Id be extremely interested in an stroker combinations starting with the 400 block. 598/499/500/512 ???
Ask the girls that question. Why so big?? A 470 is very easy to build, and can be quite stout.
Cause bigger is better? not necessarilyAsk the girls that question.
My exact thoughts. However, they’ll try out several and find what they like. Like the 3 bears story….. just sayin…..Cause bigger is better? not necessarily
More like the 30 plus bears. My exact thoughts. However, they’ll try out several and find what they like. Like the 3 bears story….. just sayin…..
I've built a bunch of 400 based engines over the years. The 512 is a good street combo, the 470 makes a nice race engine. 700 hp is fairly easy to make with Trick Flow 270 heads, 800 hp can be done, but is probably at the limit of a stock block. This pump gas 470 made 780 hp.Id be extremely interested in an stroker combinations starting with the 400 block. 598/499/500/512 ???
685 HP at 5800 661 tq at 4800
470 nothing fancy. 240 tf's , smallish solid flat tappet cam, home welded and ported tunnel ram with 2-850's
Alot of extra work making sure it was as good as I could make it.
Will easily make over 700 HP with a optimized solid roller, But like Andy said 700 is pushing it with a stock block.
I'm hoping to get some passes with this sometime this season
It's not completely put together but I've weighed everything that will be going back into the car including fluids and myself wearing a helmet and suit should be around 2900 ishHow heavy is the car approximately?
That looks badass just sitting there. What were the cam specs again?685 HP at 5800 661 tq at 4800

LolWould you look at all of that.
That's about what I'm looking at for my 470 build when I get to it. Minus the TR though. Can't wait to see the hotrod of yours make some passes.Thank you !
264-268 @ .050 - .664-.674 on 108, installed 2 degrees retarded.
I should be around 274 - 286
Me too, hopefully you can get to your 470 pretty soon. The cam is from Hughes, I bought it 2nd hand from a member here. What were you hoping to do for intake and carb ?That's about what I'm looking at for my 470 build when I get to it. Minus the TR though. Can't wait to see the hotrod of yours make some passes.
For my build, I was recommended something in the 260's @ .050 and around 0.650" lift, so similar to yours. I've got a Victor 383 intake and a few 4150 carbs to choose from (2 different 950's and an old school Holley 4781 850).Me too, hopefully you can get to your 470 pretty soon. What is your compression ratio going to be ?For my build, I was recommended something in the 260's @ .050 and around 0.650" lift, so similar to yours. I've got a Victor 383 intake and a few 4150 carbs to choose from (2 different 950's and an old school Holley 4781 850).
To me, that's the most cost effective one to do.I have a mid-year 1971 400 and I'm fixing to stroke it to a 451...
Besides being able to use some factory parts in the 451 the stroker kits all cost about the same price. To me, that's the most cost effective one to do.
