I always thought it was a single stage .
The cylinders look equal in size.
I drained the tank (of air) and started it again . It runs fine until the pressure starts to build to around 80 psi then it starts to slow up . It did not knock though ...which leads me to think Steve is on the right track and the valve is stocking .
That would be great if I dont have to do a rebuild.
Ah, your situation is clearer. Now it sounds like a motor problem. It looks like you have a capacitor start/capacitor run motor. I'd bet the run capacitor is going south on you.
