Crate motor prices, Who's smoking crack???

Who would buy any engine from Jegs or Summit, There 3 times the cost.
 
i love the idea of the small block 440, it would make my life tons easier but it is quaite a pretty penny for me right now
 
LOL. And the guy who was over at my place yesterday helping me shoehorn the stroker's TTI headers into the fish was saying he can buy crate SBs for $3-4K. He has taken to calling the '71 340 I pulled from the car as "his" but thinks I would sell it to him for $1000.

Looks like that purple 508 cam gets uses in a few of those crate motors and I am surprised that the 340 6P is only advertized at 330 HP
