We travelled over to Detroit, & picked it up today. Shipping/brokerage fees to Canada would've been high.

We plan to start taking the current motor out on Monday.

I can tell you the sucker looks good with Eddy heads & aluminum valve covers. Those heads alone would cost about $2,000 Canadian. The block is black, and I just might leave it since the other accents on the car are black. It was originally a 318 car anyways. I'll be beadblasting my sixpack intake, and use it on this new engine.

The dyno sheet that came with it shows 500 peak tq, & 467 HP. I obviously can't verify if it was this particular engine, even though it fits the serial #.

So obviously, it was a happy day for me.

Now...I just hope it turns out to be a good purchase (crate engine=scary.lol).

There's been a lot of discussions regarding those engines.
Mostly just speculation. I considered one of those myself .
I'm sure we'll all be interested in hearing your thoughts on it.
Once it's installed and running.
wish you the best of luck with your purchase .
And post some pics!

Thanks for the encouragement! I need to remember to bring the camera.

I found this post from Summit on Ebay. It gives details of the Blueprint company, along with engine descriptions.

They need to do good by me since this forum is so popular. I should let them know my progress is being followed here. Crate engines have a bad rap for the most part.

Oh yeah, make their butts pucker before you buy the motor that way you are sure to get a "tight" motor. he, he.
Just a little added purchase security.

I can see it now.

"Oh, by the way, I'm going to blast my progress of this motor all over the internet and if it turns out well, you should get some new customers out of it, so treat me right okay."

The guy is thinking "Oh crap, if this goes bad, we are freaking doomed." LOL!

Guy runs into assembly shop...."Hey Pepe, make sure you use the "good" parts in this one okay."

LOl.Good one!

We'll be doing it by the book. My friend is a licensed mechanic. We'll follow their instructions to a 'T".

The "bad rep" of the term "crate engine" in the MOPAR world

can be attributed to the thrown-together mismatched units

marketed by MP, aka Mopar Performance.

The firm of Blueprint Engines is located in the very heart of

the NASCAR and stock car universe in NC, building engines for

independent racers in all classes for over 20 years. The firm

has the latest state-of-the-art equipment and will soon build

their 250,000th engine. With a dyno sheet & a two-year

warranty, every engine has credentials unmatched in the industry.

For direct information, visit their shop:

http://www.blueprintengines.com/about/index.html

(We bought ours direct, rather than through Summit.)

Summit made a wise choice in selecting Blueprint Engines,

and so did you. No one gets treated any "better or worse"

by Blueprint...everyone gets the same meticulously

constructed product from the same craftsmen using the

same quality equipment.

They likely do not assign staff to monitor threads in

auto forums, gnawing their fingernails, nervously

following someone's install & subsequent treatment of

their engines. Instead, they build their engines to be

as strong/durable (and idiot-proof) as they can, & put

a two-year warranty on it.

I've been in & around engine shops from coast-to-coast

since the glory days of Holman & Moody and Traco.

Lots of variables go into what makes the *best* shops,

and rest assured Blueprint Engines has them all.

Thanks Jack. It helps put my mind at ease.

I agree with Jack that most of the terrible crate engines we have all heard about are the MP ones. I have read a ton of complaints about crate engines and 95% of them were MP crates. The rest were by fly by night shops. Definitely keep us updated about it. A good friend of mine also bought one but it was the lower hp stroker. 375 Hp I think. He doesn't have it in yet but should by this fall and I'll post his results.
