Head work questions

Exactly. Also, you should use the correct retainers and valve locks as well. If you have ever seen how old retainers crack around the valve hole and how valve locks wear the ridges, you will never skimp there again.

There are some places you can cut corners, but the hardware that keeps the valves hangin in the heads shouldn't be one of them.
I found the spring and retainer kit 73949K1 for $30 more than the springs. I will be going that route.

Coolness. Don't forget the valve locks. You'll have piece of mind instead of a piece of sh...... LOL

The Lunati catolog has partial and full kits. Read up on what they contain or not.

I went with the Hughes 1110 springs but bought them thru MagnumMopar. I already have new correct Hughes retainers and keepers to go with them.

Here are the specs for the both sets of springs.

MagnumMopar/Hughes 1110 Single spring spec

120# @ 1.660' INSTALLED 310# @ .550' LIFT

Installed Height/Seat load: 1.660"--120#
Pressure @ .450" lift: 280#
Pressure @ .500" lift: 300#
Pressure @ .550" lift: 310# @1.110"
Coil Bind: .620" lift
Outer Spring ID/OD: 1.033"/1.440"
Type of Spring: Single w/ damper

Lunati Spring Part Number73949LUN spec

Type: Dual w/damper
Outside Diameter of Outer Spring (in)1.440 in.
Coil Bind Height (in)0.950 in./.700" lift
Damper Spring Included: Yes
Spring Rate (lbs/in)363 lbs./in.
Inside Diameter of Outer Spring (in)1.096 in.
Inside Diameter of Inner Spring (in)0.745 in.

As you can see they are almost identical other then one is a single w/damper and the other is a dual with damper that requires machine work to fit.

I've contacted Lunati and was told the #1110 springs are fine for use with there cams they recommend the 73949LUN springs for up to .535" of lift.
