Hydrolock???

I had an issue with heat in a 400. It came to a climax when the radiator cap stuck closed and didn't bypass on the Garden State Parkway. The radiator exploded and the coolant instantly boiled away when the pressure released. The engine never ran right after that, as the rings were damaged by the heat. Granted it's a big block with 5 bolts around the bores - but it never hurt the head gaskets.

Results are in.....
Engine got too hot and heads are trash
Head cores are good, no cracks, but springs are shot

Looks like I will be going with those ebay EQ magnum specials
I think I saw a post here the other day asking what needed to be done to put magnum heads on a LA block

Or on second thought...
all i need is a set of springs and $150 gets me back on the road again
and if i wanted i could go up to 2.02 valves at this time
but then i'd be getting close to a $800 for the EQ heads
let me put up some WTB ads and see what shakes out

Heads are junk.
Will cost about $600 to get them right.
I'm going to sell these stroker pieces and this 46RH then just get a G3 Hemi pullout

I need to start reading up on this DBW and harness because I can't spend $2600 on the harness and ECU. That will kill my budget!

A whole year and two sets of heads later, I finally got a machine shop to clean me up a set of heads.
I set the heads and gaskets on the motor last night but haven't put in the head bolts yet.

It'll be nice to hear her run again.

Instead of paint jail I was in machine shop hell for months!
