My 68 Dart GT

-
nope, the 360 I have came out of a motorhome

this is the motor (you can see the A/C compressor on there is WAY different from the A body ones)

the one I posted pictures of wasn't mine either, it was just to show how the brackets go

So I had to check my own motor...I have factory air on a '69.

One belt goes crank, waterpump, alternator.
One belt goes crank, power steering pump.
One belt goes crank, compressor, tensioner.

Yet...my alternator pulley does have 2 grooves so ??

Still love to see those installation pics if possible.

Most replacement alternators come with the dual pulley. Most of the time like at orieleys they will change pulleys for you at no cost.

Hey Guys,

I have been making progress since I last posted the engine pics. I have the entire brake system replaced and the entire under carriage done & undercoated, The Transmission has to come out because all the seals are leaking - including the rear main seal of the engine - so will have that repaired before I paint the car.
I have attached some before & after pics of the roof of the car. I also have half of the car striped to bare metal - using the chemical method - and have found so far the only panel that doesn't need bodywork is the trunk lid.
Hope everyone is doing fine and will post more pics as I take them.

That is a great job on the roof. Will you put vinyl back on the roof or leave it in paint? Also but not least, is that a 64 Comet Caliente in baby blue I see behind your Dart? Nice-------:coffee2:DR

Hey DesertRat -
I am planning to put the black vinyl roof back on. The car in the garage with the Dart is a 64 Falcon Futura.............we have since sold it and have a 68 Cougar XR7 now. The Falcon went to a collector in GA and he has restored the Falcon and it sits in his collection which makes us happy that it's being taken care of. The Cougar is a all original Cali car that still has its original vinyl roof & paint !
The restoration on that will come after the Dart is done.

It's been a long road but finally can see all the hours of hard work & money involved coming together.............. getting excited again ! Now I just need to mortgage the house to buy all the new parts for this ride to finish it !:banghead:

You could always sell your first born.... LOL! :D

But seriously, it's coming along nicely... :thumblef:

Thanks Guys ! Hey 1969VADart ! what part of town are you in? - here in N. Chesterfield off Reams Road close to Courthouse Road !

Hey 1969VADART - I looked at your pics of your car - I thought my roof was bad from having vinyl !!! I should have put a new skin on it but I have never done that before so I choose to just replace the larger holes with metal and the smaller ones with fiberglass cloth then filler - I plan on putting black vinyl on it again - just wanted the roof to have a good coat of paint first before the vinyl goes back on!

Here's a few more pics with all the body panels on - need to do some adjusting - then off to the upholstery shop for the vinyl roof, headliner & W/S & Backglass installation !

Hey Longarm,

I didn't do it myself - thought about it but never have done one so I paid an Upholstery & Glass company to install the roof, headliner & glass - I'm in Richmond Va and it cost me a thousand dollars - may have been a little on the high side but worth it to me since I never have done this type of thing before - well, I've put in headliners before but that was 35 years ago !

thanks !
Mike
