I finally got my new motor combo to the track and despite a big glich ran 8.60 at 156 mph.
My new motor-
549 with 572-13 heads, 15/1 compression, dynoed 982 hp.
car weighs 2905 with driver.
Torqueflite, 6200 stall, 4.56 gears, 10.5x33 hoosier slicks.

My biggest problem was i didn't realize i had a delay of 2 seconds in my cc1 command center that held up the 1-2 shift for .4 seconds, the motor was on the rev limiter for .4 seconds at 8,000 rpm not pulling, yet still went 128.8 mph in the 1/8th despite laying over for that .4 second time frame about 100 feet out. So eventually i expect it to run 8.4x at 158 mph now that i found that issue. I did have problems with oil priming after sitting, and found some not so healthy looking bearings so the motor is coming out for repair for next season.

The 8.60 pass. I raised the ladderbars to only one hole down, set launch rpm low at 3900 rpm. It hits the tires softly, due to taking .5 seconds for the throttle controller to fully open the throttle at launch, but leaves smooth as glass at 1.224

That's moving, no doubt about it. You will get it faster when you get some of that electronic stuff squared away. I remember seeing this thread on Moparts as well. Hope you get the engine fixed over the winter.

Very stout numbers!

Have you ever tried lower your shift
point down to 7000 and seeing if it slows
you down appreciably?

Very nice, it looks like the new combo is coming together.

I will bring shifts down below the peak hp of 7600 and see how it runs next season. I want to try super comp, so that will be important

I am happy with it. At 982 hp from an aluminum block build i figure is pretty good, and saved 105 lbs over my megablock. So i kinda made my goal of a 1000 hp, as the 105 lb savings equals 35 hp at the ET it is running. I am concerned about the rpm it made power at though. Peak hp at 7600 puts optimum shifts above 7800, which is getting up there. With stainless valves, it is on the edge.

Fantastic. I really like the .018 and leaving smooth as glass. I'm sure the conditions were good this time of year, but it sure looks like you have a great setup for the 8.90 class.

I will have to buy 15x33x15 stiff sidewall slicks, and hit the tires much harder as i had only 1.04 in the box. It takes about 1200 more launch rpm to get a fast enough leave, which with my car may also create a launch issue of bouncing off the wheelie bars, but yes, i would love to try supercomp!
