I am in the middle of putting new springs in my Dart and have a question. I was talking to a buddy of mine and he recommended that I take my new springs apart and put teflon strips the length of all my leafs to make the springs slide better. Anybody ever try this and if so did it make any difference? thanks for your input.

Good thing you didn't listen to your friend. Please shoot him and stop stupid where it stands. Thank you in advance for stopping stupid.

You can buy spring refurbish kits with the proper zink plates and such.
If you have new springs there is no reason to take them apart.

Well, lets start with they do not slide but bend and separate under hard acceleration in order to put the power to the ground. The stops are there for quite ride issues.

this is an old hot rodder's trick.
we used to line model A and Deuce front transverse springs to improve the ride.
we cut strips from kids "crazy carpets..there was no teflon and all we had were the original stiff springs.
i remember cutting coils off a Pinto's front springs and installing them in the corvair front end i had installed in my Model A..corvair springs were too soft.
Steering arms had to be cut and re-welded to correct "ackerman principle" etc.
We built everything by hand...a great time i miss!
now you can buy most everything and just bolt it on,but that has its' good points.
you can just by the spring rate you want now.
