She's LUMP! Restore or Part/Scrap? FABO Help!

-
Well.......that's that! :D
So you must of thought twice about fixin' her up, eh John?

That one was too far gone. I got it for free and I needed alot of the parts for the other 2 we are doing right now.
Some parts are harder to find than mopar A body parts.
Basically parts and scrap money!
We still got the 63 and 69 though.
John:coffee2:

Any thoughts/plans on starting a camper resto thread?

Not the right web site for it.

I've been in enough trouble around here and felt guilty about posting this but wanted to stop and say Hi to friends and let everybody know I'm alright.

Will be putting BOF's old trailer hitch on Lump in the next few days. The wagon aint got enough *** for a camper and Lump is all ***! LOL

Will be cutting front bumper shocks soon too to get rid of the bad bumper filler on front. That should be an interesting addition to this thread.

John:coffee2:

Yeah I guess you're right that, but it just seems like it would have been interesting!

OK.
Enough of the campers! Been working too hard on the 68 shasta lately.
So It's time for our favorite car shows and it's Lumps turn to see how she does. Not really feeling like she'll do well but she will do alot better for me after we get that trailer hitch on! LOL
Anyway that hitch is not high on the list. The first show is this Sat! That's 2 days!!! It's at the Vo Tech school in Versailles, IN. The second show is on Sunday in Liberty IN. It's being hosted by "The Smoke On The Water BBQ Festival". MMMMMmmmmmmmm RIBS!!:tongue1:

Today some of the things we need to do is paint the trunk, 3 other doors on the inside, and hopefully engine compartment too. If we have time I will shoot the engine tomorrow too. Already have engine paint from last fall. We also have to finish assembly of interior after checking a noisy wiper bushing and finishing interior paint.
We are also going to try to modify the front bumper assembly to "suck in" the front bumper more to the body and get rid of our roached front bumper filler. Have some ideas on draining front bumper shocks, colapsing them and spot weld in place or cut tube and reweld 1" in toward body. We'll try the drain the shock method first, it's easier! LOL
By tomorrow night we are also going to have to detail, find our show stuff like emergency kit, tool kit, etc for points.
We have Dart emblem holes on the front fenders that are missing now (fell off) and will need to fill holes and paint them today too, JEZZ!
Anything else??
Oh Yeah, ABB still has to finish or get started on Lump's show sign and I am putting together a restoration side show with music on DVD to show on lap top on the air cleaner instead of a picture book.
All in 2 days???:banghead:
Went from Lump-O-Crap to Lump-O-Gold in 2 years. The first year we didn't do anything. I got to checking dates on pics and we just started this thing last season!
Almost forgot, still have to finish straightening the drivers side pillar too.
If I have any spare time I could install the hitch and get the lights working on the 68 shasta to take with to the shows! Place to hang in and eat ribs.:glasses7:
Could finish up with a custom fooseified paint job on the roof too.....
Probibly not enough time for that.
Let's GO!!

Hope to check in this evening with updates.
Hope everybody has a great day today!
Eat more Ribs!

Shasta, painted like Lump. I think thats doable, and would look Kool going down the road.:glasses7:

Wow it sounds like you have your work cut out for you. The bumper shock method of drain and pull back and weld is an old demolition derby thing. It works and will help keep your bumpers on if you lose it one day on the freeway and push people out of Lumps way.

Already painted the 68 shasta, well the stripes anyway.
It's a copper hammered from rustolieum can.
It's almost an exact match to the top color on the 79 Wagon!

Have a good one jaws!

what an interesting thread i just now sat here for 40 minutes seeing this.....the captions on the pics are a genius touch and what a lucky car to end up in your driveway, its nice to see someone who is kind to 4 doors, i have never had a 4 door car bcoz they are hard to find but they sure do look good.

Thanks!
The 4 doors are usually pampered before I get them. They hardly ever have seen the drag stip. Most are more likely garaged and used on weekends by Grandma.:D
Under 50K miles, mostly rust free, V-8 or slant 6, they should run around $2500.00.
Have a good one ranidart70.
John

Wow, better fix that one up,4 door or not. Be a nice criuser. WAY too nice to part out!!!

Yeah, we are WAaaaaayyyy past the scrap/part stuff!
We have been driving this one daily for about a year now, including this past winter!

Have a good one canary runner!

WOW!
I'm beat!
Masking took untill about 3PM here. I didn't finish masking due to aproaching storms. So I hurried and mixed paint and started shooting while ABB was still masking!!
The windows didn't get any mask but all the seals and such got masked. I'll just have to get the razors and glass cleaner out. Tonight I'll have to scrape all 4 doors windows on the inside to remove paint! LOL
Trunk painted, door jams done, repairs and repaint done. Grill black out done (was going to paint gold but ran out of paint). Won't be getting the engine or bay painted though. I hope to wash out the engine bay in the morning.
Still have to reassemble interior, install grill, detail etc.
We almost got our show sign done but I still have to do the slide show. All that would be left is wash detail load and go.:burnout:
Storms came in so into the garage it went. I'll be working on it through the night. Later after dark I can put together the slide show.
It will be a miracle if it gets done in time to be a half hour away in the morning by 8AM!!:banghead:
I'll get some good pics of the bumper mod as soon as I get the grill installed. It already looks better with the filler gone.

:cheers:Good Times!

Quit raining again so I got it back out of the garage and installed the grill so we could see how the bumper looked after being tucked all to heck and back!!:D
I think it looks more agressive.
The light is doing funny things with the color in the door jams. It is all painted even if it doesn't look like it in pics.
Went ahead and washed engine compartment and blow dried it too!
Then it started raining again, back into the garage!

That's a really nice car. Would love to have something like that some day. I love the color and everything you've done to bring her back to glory.
