I was told by some of my mopar friends that a 8 1/4" rear end would work with a 360 small block, any one else have any inexpensive suggestions for a 360 motor and 727 trans from a 76 van?

I'd be OK with a 8-1/4 rear so long as I wasn't drag racing on a serious level.

I've ran 12.56 @ 106 and have been 1.76 60' times with slicks on an 8.25... put 18,000 miles on it too - hundreds of runs with 2 motors... its lasted!

Nice DJ. It's a under est. rear. In your Current cuda it is?

yes... i had it behind the 318 for 10 years and the 360 now for 5

its a sure grip and I believe they are a little stronger.

I cant kill it - thats for sure...

Ha ha ha, gives me alittle more faith in mine though I'm not exactly putting the screws to the rear with lots-o-power. But should I go there.....

well the 360 will be stock of course, 275 HP Van Motor :p

Putting it in my 71 dart <.<

I ran a 8 1/4 in my Scamp for a long time with a mildly modified 318, now I am going to run a Ford 9.. Now I just have to decide on my rear end gearing..cant figure out which one to use.

I would have to agree with everyone else.. the 8 1/4 should be fine.. I actually cruised for a year with a 7 1/4 behind my 360/727 .. and I wasnt kind to it (I have been told though I was extremely lucky) .. I was looking to go 8 1/4, but then happened upon an 8 3/4 at a price I couldnt pass up...
