Today's fruitless search for Bullitt wheels, LOL

you can fit a 245 width tire on an 8" rim with 4.5" backspace. that is what i had on my dart when i fist put 18" wheels on it. i had 245/40/18 on the back of the car with completely stock suspension.



then i decided to step up to big rubber,.




How much room did you have between tire and spring and tire and fender?
 
I thought one of the photos showed. With the early wheels I could stick my hand up to my last knuckles next to the lower quarter lip, so ? 3/4" on the "wide" side and a bit less on the other, 5/8?



It was "just right." On a real hard corner, the tires don't rub, with a full tank and "some weight" in the trunk. I have not, however, tried it with passengers

(Post 22 is the early style wheels. I only had two, they are black, and I wanted grey, hence buying the set of later, grey ones. I have never run the grey ones yet, as the car is now "down for paint." They will require spacers front and rear.)


BEAR IN MIND that I'm using a Versailles axle, so this has no relevance with Mopar rear axles.
 
Well, LOL, just like EVERYTHING I do, it all has to be complicated, circuitous, and convoluted. I was 'all set' that I was going to use the later wheels with spacers. THEN last night, I found an earlier set in GRAY Guy wanted 375. I got them for 320. Tires are junk, wheels are nice. These are the same as the original 2 black ones I had except gray. This means they are "outset" about 1/2" more than the later ones, and will bolt right onto the rear with no spacers. Have to do a bit of work to get them on the front.

SO NOW WE CAN sell the later ones, LOL

I turned down the O.D. of the rotor hub by about .1250 and hogged out the center hole on the rim with a holesaw to get the fronts on mine.

Those look like the same "older style" I just bought. Did you use any spacers on the front? What size tire?
