2012 charger srt-8

WOW h.p #'s are up there! Looks to me like dodge is trying to build a touring sedan legend. Wont be long before it is right up there with cars like the BMW M5. It is underpowered to be competing with that car though. Im hoping they will eventually build a 2dr version as well, but I dig the 4 dr.

I can see that car all in black!

What do you guys think your trying to go against with? Neither ford or GM offer a full size car with power like that. It's all about classes. Think mustang, camaro, challenger are all in the same class with (no superchargers or turbos). Now the shelby mustang is in a different class itself. That being said i think it's funny how you try and take that try and put it in the same class as a vette or viper. Sorry they're not even close.

Love the car, Seen one take out a pole@50mph with no interior damage/intrusion, (thats why the cops like em),...However,....No Stick, No Sale,....My wife drives a slush pump,...er...automatic...

GO chrysler sergio knows what americans want and what is going to sell keep these coming MA MOPAR

the srt8 will have paddel shifts

"For the first time in any Chrysler SRT car, a standard paddle-shifter joins the AutoStick system, using the W5A580 five-speed automatic transmission. Adaptive electronic control makes the powertrain more responsive while minimizing harshness."

No Stick,No Sale,...that means 3 pedals,...(Real) Control is everything....Manuals make the average lazy American a lot less complacent while driving the average 3500 lbs weapon,...save the slush pumps for the wives on the cell's and take your driving seriously,...this ain't Europe and I'm not your typical lazy American...

CTS-V. Chrysler can't compete.

On the Challenger side, Chrysler can't compete with GT-500 or ZL1.

Again the gt500 is in a different class (guess you can call it a subclass) it standard mustang gt 5.0 (switch is the same/in the same class) as the camaro SS and the challenger srt8.
What the hell is a ZL1? I have no idea what that is (I thought about that for 20 mins.) Are you talking about the ZR1 (the supercharged vette?).
The cts-v is a supercharged Car watch what dodge could do if they put a factory supercharger on it. Also on a side note the 6.4 produces more HP than the camaro SS and the mustang gt

Disagree. Mustang GT and Camaro SS are NOT in the same class as the SRT-8, they are in the same class as R/T. SRT-8 should be able to compete with CTS-V, and the Challenger should be able to compete with GT-500 and ZL1 (look it up, it's a new camaro with 500+). GM is on their game and Chrysler isn't keeping up. Supercharged or not, these are factory cars! Chrysler needs to do more. Don't get me wrong, I love the new Charger, HUGE fan, but Chrysler isn't keeping up with the others. It isn't a Ford, GM, Mopar dance, it's still a Ford, GM dance.

Had to go there?... Really?...Says yet another lazy american!,...Did you read that the ponticrap is the wifes?...I Am a real Chrysler car fan, been supporting and working for them for 35 years exclusively...(not Fiat). just rebuilt way to many Chrysler slush pumps to ever consider owning one,....Is that a shifting smiley on your post?....

Im seeing european influence all throught this car. In my eyes it's an attempt at a touring sedan market entry. The interior options have been waaay upgraded and the int now has a very crafted euro feel. It is underpowered compared to it's european counterparts, but as stated, wait until there is a blower option!! The only thing that comes close to this offering I think would be the Aussie Holden car withe the vette motor. It handles very well and is a hoot to drive.

Show a link to the ZL1 (I havent heard anything about that one. I know they killed the z28 and the ZL1 I'm think of was an aluminum 427 big block)

I like the Challenger for looks way more than the charger. besides the damn cops drive unmarked chargers around here.

Problem with the new Challenger is the price - $40K!! Did not see a sticker with one with the 6.1 which is probably higher.

Guess my lowly 340 FB fish will have to do for now.

Camaro is a "retro-car", the ZL1 is back, google it! 500+ starting at $47k...

"With the unveiling today [February 9, 2011] of its 550-horsepower Camaro ZL1at the Chicago Auto Show, Chevrolet is making its case as the alpha vehicle among modern muscle cars including the Ford Mustang and Dodge Challenger."

should be able to get a decent deal on a 10 challenger. theres anough of them laying around on the lots and the 11 is out.

Oh that motor, haha yeah dodge is f*cked if they don't start adding the option for a power adder (be it turbo (better be twin if they do) or a supercharger). I know all about that motor it a de tuned version of the ZR-1 vette motor (LS9), this motor theyre putting in the camaro is the same motor in the cts-v. A guy down the street for me has a cts-v, then he had it re tuned and surpass LS9 specs and then thought it would be funny to take his family with him and take down a zr1. Which he did take one down and everybody on the block heard the slap across his face his wife gave him when they got back. His kids thought it was the coolest thing in world (both the take down of the vette and the loud sound that slap made). He slept in cts-v that night.
