http://www.forabodiesonly.com/mopar/showthread.php?t=177050

and this is this years thread http://www.forabodiesonly.com/mopar/showthread.php?t=220829

Yes I am a nascar fan, and enjoy the competition, my daughter inlaw won one year and I won last year and we are into the last 1o races of the year and reset points so if you want to join in late and get the feel for it jump on in and enjoy so next year you can be the second lady member to win
Me, well I still think Brad K. #2 car is one of the best drivers outthere, but luck and moving to ford with Penskee has not been good for him, but if you go threw the first thread and second you can see we enjoy it very much :thumblef:

Creed my son (shirtless has been to 2 races this year :D I have never been to one but it sure is nice to know my sons are getting to enjoy things I have not got to experience :hello2:

Hey, Rani, you wanna know who follows NASCAR? Check out the FABO NASCAR "Pick 'Em" game: http://www.forabodiesonly.com/mopar/showthread.php?t=220829

...and if you wanna know who follows NHRA drag racing, check out the FABO NHRA "Pick 'Em" game: http://www.forabodiesonly.com/mopar/showthread.php?t=222446

Both of these games have a loyal following and, I hope, make watching the races even more enjoyable for those involved.
Although I enjoy both forms of racing, drag racing has always been my favorite. The unmistakable sound of a fuel motor, the smells, the feel (literally) of the power from two 10,000-horsepower Top Fuel or Funny Cars leaving the starting line and everything else about a NHRA national event makes it a purely sensorial experience. The unbelievable acceleration from a standing start to over 300 mph in less than 1000 feet is something to see, hear, and feel. And once you get that first dose of nitro you're hooked for life.
BTW, the next televised NHRA national event is Saturday (qualifying) and Sunday (eliminations) on ESPN2. Check 'em out!

Me and a buddy went to California Speedway out here in Fontana, CA when it first opened and watched a Nascar race. We were walking out the exit gate in less than an hour. The gist of our conversation was "I don't get it" :sleepy2: I'm a drag race kinda dude.....:burnout:

Really you are jumping in at a good time for nhra and nascar
Nascar has a new body they started the year out with and we are hoping Mopar finds a good team to bring them back next year, Erica Enders will be racing this week NHRA  she is a great lady driver that is very fast and out drove some top guns

I know it is to late to try and win this year but we would be so happy to see you jump in and test the waters for the rest of this year =D>:eek:ccasion:

In the past, NASCAR was a speed and endurance test of production cars with only minor modifications allowed, and it was exciting to watch. In the past twenty five years, the sport has become a driver popularity contest, and the quality of racing has suffered because the sanctioning body has written the rules so that all brands are theoretically aero-equal, and nearly all the mechanical parts are the same.

To some, watching 43 cars going in circles is boring. To others, watching two cars at full throttle for a few seconds is boring. To each his own. I love participating in drag racing, but find it totally boring to watch. I've also driven a NASCAR Cup car at over 150 mph in the Richard Petty Driving Experience at Texas Motor Speedway, and it's far from boring!

I'm a fan of the car, not the driver, and since Dodge left the sport this year I don't care really who wins, but the Keselowski family are Mopar people at heart, so I suppose I favor both Brad and Brian...unless Dodge re-enters the series and someone else becomes their driver.

I generally agree with GaryS.

I remember watching Petty, Yarborogh, Allison, Waltrip, etc in the early/mid 70's when I was a kid. Back then there wasn't much televised, so seeing the Daytona 500 was a treat.

Starting in the late 80's/ early 90's it kinda got thrust into the spotlight, with "days of thunder" and the media spectacle of earnhart SR. I never really cared for the way he raced, and that coupled with the abscence of Mopars turned me off.

Late 90's I tried to get back itno it, but it seemed every time a good driver emerged for Mopar, one of the other teams (usually gm) lured them away.

I was a Kasey Khane fan, then a Rusty Wallace fan, then a Kurt Bush fan, and finally a Keselowski fan. I still follow BK and Busch (if maybe only for the underdog factor).
Watching KK in what I consider his prime, was a treat. Young guy passing people on the outside frequently, and absolutle RULING the 2.5 mile tracks.

Now I watch maybe one out of three, and sometimes only the first 20 and last 20 laps.

I'll also agree that participating in drag racing is a blast, but I really don't care to watch too much of it, especially since even the pro stock cars don't even look like cars anymore.

I like NASCAR history. Modern day NASCAR sucks big nasty gangrene infested puss oozing balls.

round and a round and a round and a round and a round and a round and a round and round and a round and a round and a round and a round and a round and a round and round and a round and a round and a round and a round and a round and a round and round and a round and a round and a round and a round and a round and a round and round and a round and a round and a round and a round and a round and a round and round and a round and a round and a round and a round and a round and a round and round and a round and a round and a round and a round and a round and a round and round and a round and a round and a round and a round and a round and a round and....

:wack:
He pretty much said it all.
You wanna watch racing? Watch the Rolex series racing sooooo much better! The 24 hours of Le Mans is the SUPER big race of the year in this series. I prefer the GT Am and GT Pro.

I lost interest in nascar when they stopped being stock cars...

Which was btw before I was born.

Same goes for the NHRA. I only really enjoy bracket and outlaw racing.

I watch and attend both NASCAR and NHRA races. Each has it's own unique attraction for me. I feel some what alone in the fact that I actually appreciate today's technology in racing. To me the old cars were cool but I like the new stuff too.I'm a Dale Earnhardt JR fan but also pull for Kurt Busch because despite his crappy personality he is a great talent and I enjoy watching him drive.Drag Racing will always be my favorite but I enjoy NASCAR also.

Rani, check it out, and make up your own mind. Sure, they go round and a round and around, etc. Sometimes in excess of 200 mph. I'm lucky enough to live within an hour of both Lebanon Speedway, (Asphalt track in Lebanon, MO.) and Lucas Oil Speedway, ( The Diamond of Dirt Tracks, in Wheatland, Mo.). If you really want to have some fun, go check out a small track like the two I just mentioned.
