1963 thru 1965 {B-Body Cars}

* 383/343 HP 'Dual Quad'
Without a doubt would have been a 'dominant' Street Muscle Car, and surpassed the 'anemic' 383/325 HP.

* 426-S 'Street-Wedge' {380 HP}
While the 426/425 HP and 426/410 HP 'Max-Wedge Engines were Monsters, they were not 'street friendly'.

One can only imagine, if Mopar had a 426-S with 11.0-1 Pistons, Max-Wedge Heads, a Mechanical Camshaft
{.475" Lift ~ 280* Duration ~ 44* Overlap}, and with an Aluminum Dual-Plane High Rise Intake and
a 750 Holley.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------
1965

273/235 HP 'Commando'
Properly rating the 273 'Commando' at 225 Horspower.

273/240 HP 'Commando HP'
A little more 'OOMPH' for the 273, with a bumpier Mechanical Camshaft {.445 Lift ~ 260* Duration ~ 40* Overlap},
Stiffer Valve-Springs, Aluminum Intake Manifold and a Carter #3447 AFB {600 CFM} Carburetor.

440 with a max-wedge top-end. It was in the works for a Duster until Mopar decided "no more ppackage cars".......:protest:

It would have been cool to see an A body hemi car that was street legal production car . I also wonder why no one has made copys of the ball stud hemi

1966

383/325 HP ~ 383/340 HP ~ 383/350 HP

Offering the 383 with the standard 'Mild Performance Engine', and also with 2 'new' 1966 '383 Specials'.

383/340 HP
With > #300-J Cylinder Heads, 11.0-1 Compression, High-Lift 'Hydraulic' Camshaft, Aluminum Intake and 750 CFM Carter AFB.

383/350 HP
With > #300-J Cylinder Heads, 11.0-1 Compression, High-Lift 'Mechanical' Camshaft, Aluminum Intake and a 780 CFM Holley.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

440/356 HP ~ 440/375 HP

Offering a 440 'Super Commando' in the 'new' 1966 Dodge Charger 'only'

1} Correctly rating the 440/375 HP at '356 HP'

2} Offer up a proper 375 HP version, with #300-J Cylinder Heads, 11.0-1 Compression, 'Mechanical' Camshaft, Aluminum
Dual-Plane High-Rise Intake and Holley 800 CFM.

Besides the 426/425 HP 'Street Hemi', offer up with '2' versions of the 440, which in 1966 was offered only in the Chrysler and 'Big Boat' Dodge Monaco cars.

I would have liked to see a performance 440 with street hemi cam, actual HP manifolds like max wedge, closed chamber heads, and 6bbl or dual quad induction.

They should have done ANY big block Duster. A 400 4 bbl would have been pretty cool today with a stealth stroker hidden inside.

They should have had an option for a stroked 340 to make a 416 with a crossram intake. Now that would have made a killer combo in a 71/72 Demon or Duster.

Jack

68-73 340 powered Valiants.

73-74 440+6 Satellites and Road Runners

67 Barracuda 440 Super Commando

1963 Dodge Dart 413 or 426 Max Wedge....complete with the "lightweight" package

hemi 446, that is a fine ride you have, mopar could have used your vision back in the day.
very nicely done!

High compression 360-4 & -6 with aluminum heads and block. Couple that with the suspension and cooling components of the A38 Dart.

a-body with a 383 hemi would have been nice.

I know they didn't make it, but they should have. a 6pac on it would have been nice too.

Always thought there should have been a '64-'65 small block cross ram Valiant/Dart modeled after the A990 cars. Probably not realistic with the 273 though since that was all that was available at that time. The factory didn't do much with the 273 anyway, even in the D Darts.

Best option for real small block power in a factory passenger car would have been to stick some W2s on a 340/360. Probably too many obstacles to make W2s work in regular pass. cars though, i.e; need tube headers, solid/roller cam, offset rockers, big 4 bbl, gears. None of that was happening during the gas crisis/5mph bumper/vacuum line days. Likely would have had a limited warranty too.

Save for the 340, small blocks never really got much love from ma. Almost all the factory small blocks that came after the 340 and one-year-only 360 4 bbl were pathetic.

Or how about the ultimate big block, The 451! (440 crank in a 400 block) That combo would have leveled everything on the street. Less weight than the RB, bigger bore yada yada yada.

Factory fuel injection and supercharger options on 340/426(w&h)/440, for all bodies (abc etc). If corvette (hell even a Volvo) could have fuel injection so could mopar. Oh and the blocks and heads be all aluminum.

Stroked 380+ cube 4 barrel version of the 340 with the 2.02 valve heads.

Keep the A-Body Barracuda in production into the mid seventies.

First Year........ 1966 Dodge Charger

Was only available with Performance Engines 383/325 HP or 426/425 HP 'Street Hemi'.

Should have also been available with;
* 440/356 HP > {Built for 1966 = C/Stock}
* 440/375 HP > {Built for 1966 NHRA = B/Stock}
* 426 'Race Hemi' with Lightweight Components {Built for 1966 NHRA S/S or S/SA}

67-69 Dart 440 with a 4 speed, Convertible body! They built a few hard tops 440 but only with Auto trans and no Convertibles
Guess I have to build my own :)
