On the top set you can see the quite large wiring harness bracket in the middle which the 66's had. The 65's used the 3 little wiring harness tabs - 1 in the middle and the two outboard ones

67,66 and 65 respectively.
I think some VERY early 65 covers had 3 small tabs... But to keep the carb linkage away from the wires they quickly changed it to the wide one in the middle...

Maybe I'm missing something here, but how could the carb linkage (on the driver's side) interfere with the wiring harness that was secured on the Passenger side valve cover with either the 3 small tabs (65) or the 2 small tabs and 1 large one (66)?
Here is a picture of the carb (AFB) and valve cover linkage shield... On My 65 Barracuda...
Who is going to now tell me I have been driving a 66 all these years???

Yep you're correct. 66's did have that guard on. I wonder if it had anything to do with the heat riser passage. I wonder when in 65 it was changed?
Here's a 65 (or so they say) without the guard.
Laughing my *** off Toolmanmike... That is MY PICTURE of MY Cuda!!!! And it has that shield but since black on black does not always show up... it's there...
I have had this Cuda since 1973... bought it from the Original owner who was just an old man who just drove it like a normal car... He was not into any sort of mods, so I do not think he would swap valve covers since he apparently never opened the hood from the way is was Arizona dirty. Now my 65 DART, I bought Brand New!
All the 66 pictures Im pulling up show the Hump in the Valve covers where the stove pipe Breather and PC Valves go !!!
That's funny. What are the chances? lol
