He finally got his new Mopar Sport hood that some 16' and 17' Dart models have. I convinced him to do the satin black to give it the classic Mopar look, I think it came out great. The new Darts get ridiculed for the name because people don't feel they are "Dart's" and should have been called a Neon. Personally, I think it earned the Dart name. No, it isn't a muscle car and doesn't have a V8, but for a 4 cylinder it runs very well and the hood now gives it the appearance of old muscle. It will never be a classic Dart, but that doesn't mean the appearance can't go back to the Dart name roots. It will be at the Mopar Nationals at National Trial Raceway, next month if any of you want to get a closer look at it. The picture does not do it justice. What do all you enthusiast think?

That looks great! Cool runabout...

Is there any way to make that hood functional? That would seal the deal for me.

looks good, I would match the roof panel with it as well

Too funny you post this. A few months back my wife's T & C had to go in for some warranty work. So, they gave us a rental. A brand new Dart. I really liked it. I thought it was quite a quick little thing. I had been driving just a old beater, so I said to the wife I think I'll get myself one. So much to like about the little thing. Btw mine is the same color as your brother's.

MRGTX, there is a company called modern performance that produces a kit to make the hood functional. His actually has the kit on it but it was designed for Mopars cold air intake and his has a injen on it. So the kit doesn't seal like it would with the Mopar intake but still blows that colder air onto the air filter. Matts440, his long term goal after his warranty is up is to buy the turbo kit made for the Dart and make it a SRT4 Dodge never made.

Awesome, I had a 04 and had a 60-1 turbo on it, stage 3 bc cams, ported and polished head, bc rods, stock crank, cp pistons, 4" turbo back. Was a fun ride, miss that car some days. Does he have the 2.4 or the 1.8 turbo in his now?

Yes I agree as well. He looked at a 1.4 turbo but he decided if he was going to spend the money on a new car he wanted the biggest engine available and wanted to special order it. He first choice was and RT Challenger but insurance and price of the car shut that down quick.

Lol I bet, the funny thing is the turbo engine and the 2.4 make the same power. Are there companies out there that make a turbo kit for then 2.4?

Nicely done. They are sporty little cars, ride well, roomy, and perform well too.

Kinda funny that guys get flack for these new cars and modding them. a guy in town here who builds some very nice traditional hot rods and wagons...actually his whole family. One of his dailys was an electric blue srt-4 that was an 11.8 1/4 mile car. He'd even get beaked at car shows and then they would see the time slips and quietly move along. Pretty comical to see

I loved my srt neon, everyone just though Oh it's just a neon, but I have raced and beat many v8 cars with my turbo 4 cylinder. Most of the people just like these cars, theyou are not going to be like the classics, but still a cool fun car that will push the limits on the engine see what power they can make. On my stock turbo was pulling down mid 12s, with the big turbo was working on the tune made a low 12s almost 11s. Still drove it everyday to and from work and anywhere I needed to go. When doing a test run on the open freeway going to the track or having fun on a open road, it would see 140mph pretty quick getting in boost, 80mph and just down shift from 5 to 4 and get on it and shift at the top end of the RPM and still pull through 5th

Yup. Him too.

my dad drove an srt 4 when they first got one in where he worked. He says he hasn't drove anything that pulled like that since his big block days as a kid.

Same with my dad when he drove mine with the straight meth injection, kinda kept him on his toes when he got in it, and that time was just stock turbo

Why caint a couple of yall shut the **** up and just let people do what they enjoy? The new Darts are not my cup of tea, but if they make somebody else happy, why piss in their corn flakes intentionally? That makes you look like a total asshole. Cut the **** out.

Lol I bet, the funny thing is the turbo engine and the 2.4 make the same power. Are there companies out there that make a turbo kit for then 2.4?
Yes, the turbo kit is for the 2.4. I believe it can be installed on any new Dart with no internal modifications, but I am not sure. I never personally looked them up, just going off what my brother has said. I have a 72 Scamp so no need to look up parts for a new Dart lol. He buys the parts I just install them for him.
