Were heads milled? Looks like a fresh build, was 2 barrel manifold on there when motor was done, they may have milled the 2BBl manifold to make it fit.

Are you asking about the heat cross over?

It stays open.

That horse shoe shaped hole is for dropping your carb nuts into..

:)

Pull the valve covers so you can see if it fits down on the heads. If it does, and the bolt holes line up without the gasket, measure the gasket and mill that much off the intake manifold. If the manifold sits too low with no gasket you may get lucky.

It is ok I have heard those are heat crossovers or casting holes whatever they are the factory manifold covers them up but most aftermarket ones don’t. My air gap looks like yours.

Thanks!! Appreciate all you help!!!!!

You might need to clearance the valve covers a bit to prevent interfering with the intake, or make sure you use the thick valve cover gaskets.

You'll also most likely have to mill down the choke casting, as it could be contacting the carb's throttle mechanism.
Trial fit the carb as well before torquing down the intake.

Scribe the head now, pull intake, tape off and paint. Then pull the covers and install the intake.

That bare steel will rust and look crappy.

The stock manifold covered the entire heat cross over, is it ok that the new one only covers a portion?

No, it did not. It probably had tons of dirt covering it up. None of the intakes cover that area up. It is for heat relief at the exhaust crossover. Bolt down the new intake and have at it.

only if your some place you don't have a spare :BangHead:

also decide how your going to tackle the end gaskets...better yet, ask everyone what the "correct" way to do it is :poke:

We all know 2 or 3 nuts are fine, that little bit of extra air just makes it burn hot and FAST!!

U need to remove the valve covers. Is there a hole in the Center of the front and rear rails? If not u will have to pull the pins out, Most ppl recommend not using the end rail gaskets and using a thick bead of silicone or The Right Stuff. Kim

after you remove the valve covers and install the intake your valve covers could still hit the intake runners causing oil leaks but they make a thick vc gasket that will help pick up the cover and give more clearance its about 3/8 '' thick.
