I'm trying to make up my mind on the color for my 67 Valiant race car. (2 door post) I'd like to keep it a MOPAR color from the era, and I'm kinda partial to Turbine Bronze. I have also considered Butterscotch. Does anyone have a photo of a similar A body in either one of those colors?
I'm open to other suggestions as well. Thanks in advance!

Based on research Turbine Bronze is the rarest color of the Mopar colors, second is Medium Surf Metallic Turquoise LL1.

My buddy had a 68 valiant post that was a copper bronze color it was really nice looking color even when paint was 40yrs old. Dustin

I have always liked Turbine Bronze. I don't know about butterscotch... A race car should be an exciting color. Ever see Omaha Orange?

I might be biased but I have always associated the turbine bronze with big cars.

I have a 66 Plymouth fury that is an original turbine bronze car.

I can't imagine it on a much smaller A body with less trim, less chrome and in 67 you have flat sides. Probably need a bright color that will bring out the body lines in a smaller space.

Turbine bronze was only available for a few years in late 1966, 1967 and 1968 so didn’t have a lengthy run like others colours (B5). It’s probably my favourite colour!! As it was only available for 2 years on an A body, it sure is a rear colour. Other browns in ‘69 and beyond (burnt orange) are similar but not the same.

2 of my favorite mid 60's colors are turbine bronze and any of the turquoises.

Keep in mind that EL5 butterscotch is a 1969.5 color.

I'm not real big personally, with HIP colors on pre-HIP era cars (especially limelight on anything before 1970), but I think you could get away with that one (butterscotch on a 67 Val, that is).

A '67 Valiant would look great in any of those bronzes or browns. I think the butterscotch yellow, or any of those '70s "mod" colors would look terrible on it.

Butterscotch needs the black decal contrast to look good. The Valiant's get that tail stripe but I don't know if that would be enough to set it off.

Valiant's get what tail stripe?

To each his own, but those "hi-impact" or "mod" colors look like crap on a pre-1970s car, or any other car they never came on. And if you want a bumblebee stripe, get a Dodge!

I was just saying some colors need some contrast in order to not look plain or pukey. Like to me, this Duster looks plain jane but the color combo with the Demon stripe package looks better because of the contrast.

thanks to everyone for the replies, I appreciate the comments, opinions, and advice. I think it's going to be Turbine Bronze or something close to it. I've noticed that in photos, the color can look quite different, so I'll make sure to have my painter do a spray out or three before shooting the car. I don't think I've ever seen that color car at the track. Be nice to have something a bit different. Thanks again, everyone.

Here is an original 1968 Valiant in Turbine Bronze. It looks more brown because of aging, but it's a very attractive color. This may be the only known picture of a Valiant in this color. Seen a few Darts but not many. The Dart Sport is not Turbine Bronze. It looks like it but it's a darker K6 Bronze, used in '73-74.

My buddy had the same exact 68 valiant but was a 2 door.

Was that Valiant for sale/sold in Georgia a couple years ago? I saw one just like it on craigslist and tried my best to get to it, but it sold before I had the chance. Always wondered where it ended up.

paint codes for a modern paint may or may not exist so many are just an old college try for the correct color. PPG would be likely your best best for having the code and a closest match but you will faint when you see the cost.
