Buy it NOW or it's going to the Scrap yard.... 800 Firm !

Unless I have desireable motors, I glean the parts off of them and scrap them nowadays. Too many motors sitting around, and offering them up for $50 doesn’t sell them. With scrap at $240/ton, I get my $50.

When I worked at Toromont CAT, one of the salesman was grumbling about selling a piece of equipment(dozer or loader), because the salesnmngr would have to ok the deal. In this case he wouldnt because it was customers 1st CAT piece. Mngr wouldnt go any lower as it wouldnt leave much wiggle room for THAT customers next purchase a few years down road. Makes sense to a certain extent when you think about it.

That was fuzzy logic at best . What if that customer went to a competitor which cultivated a relationship with him and subsequently sold him many peices of equipment over the coming years ? That adds up ....

When I first moved here in 1976 there was a fellow down the road that had a 70' Charger 440 six pack, black with red Bumble Bee stripe sitting in his back yard, wouldn't sell because his son bought it while in Vietnam but died there. every year I drove by it was further in the ground, I've since moved a couple of times and haven't been by there in 20 or so years. I can definitely understand the emotional ties but if it were me, I would probably like to see it restored and enjoyed.
There was a T/A Challenger 2 blocks from me, same state but it was actually driven. I asked once when it was sitting for 2 months and he said nope, im gonna restore it. There wasn't a panel on it that didn't have a rust through. Exhaust was coat hangered to the bumper, door didnt close. It disappeared for a year and I saw it again 15 miles away in another neighborhood, still wired together, still same dirt from a year ago. Oh well.

I agree, but i see both sides of it. The "longer " you stick with a brand, I think the more you would "squeeze" the sales rep after each subsequent purchase?

I have tried to give away stuff for just shipping. Still get turned down. Just not the right person. Pretty much give away stuff on CL. Ill charge a few dollars just so I dont have the bottom of the barrel showing up at the shop.

Sorta makes me think of this Facebook post I saw today..
Looks pretty good to me to use as a parts car! I mean, all my parts cars have rotten frame rails and the rats got into it, you know, parts car kinda cars.

"Parting out soon, 1964 valiant barracuda Canadian model, winter project, building a 65 using for parts, 273 keeping motor, good rebuilt push button 30000 miles ish, shift speeds maxed 45 in first 85 in second whatever is left after I am done will be for sale keep me in mind"

They are parting the black car in the pix ?!? If so, that's pretty stupid.

Yep, did that with an 8.75 not long ago. Oh well.

When does it become okay to toss parts? I hate throwing away parts I don't need, but if nobody wants it, why should I turn my yard into a junkyard? I sent a 7.25 to the scrapper from the Scamp, and I've got another one that'll probably meet the same fate out of the Valiant. I mean, if anyone wants it, I'd be happy to give it to them....even drive to meet them! But let's face it, they're not in high demand. Not in my area at least. Same with a slant K member.
I'd be interested in 67-72 slant sux K frames

Actually the data show that repeat customers are willing to pay more on average . Part of it is that you develope a friendship and trust . That is worth quite a bit to most people.

If it's local just say "can I meet you across the street from the scrap yard"

I see his point. I have been on these sites for quite a while and one thing that is a constant-cheap bastard posts. Just because you have the same interests does another man owe you his property and or his labor? There is a lot of good parts out there that you won’t buy cheap. I put a low mileage Newport on C bodies not one SOB had a good thing to say about it. Run and drive car was scrapped. And for the same reason I don’t advertise on here.

I don't understand folks that advertise like this.?.?. They are only going to get maybe 200 for it at the scrap yard. So, they'll sell it to the scrap yard for 200 but not to me for 250 ??? Why 800 to me ?? I see these type of adds all the time, everywhere!
Blind ignorance, arrogance, bitterness that they can’t get what they want (for something they have) Spitefulness on display, Cant accept nobody wants what they have. Can’t take rejection. Social media temper tantrum. Who knows. Bottom line: a class A douchebag, or as in the video of the Charger being crushed. Bonafide Meathead. :realcrazy:

And a bunch of others should have went for it! It held a lot more money in the trunk than I was asking for it.

I deleted the pics. I knew the old guy that owned it he drove it to a bunch of car shows. Didn’t get a lot of love being a C body. Even in the C body bunch it got no love. 68 Newport something not custom but had every power option they had. Anyway it’s over now!

That’s what I thought but I sure was wrong!

Means you brought it up..... can I ask what your asking price was and what the scrap yard gave you??

Shoulda posted it on A and B bodies. You limited the reach. I might have wanted it if it was mechanically solid enough to make a drive to Texas. What were you asking? 2 door, 4 door, wagon, or sportsroof?

I used to list every part that I removed off my dart. I listed them all here and all for free.

Well guess what. Now I just throw them away... people suck. You cant even give stuff away.

I gave away three running 350s last year. (At once) i had MORE THAN ONE guy ask me to pull the oil pans and count the cap bolts...

Now days i give it to a friend or the scrap guy. Most people are just a PITA.
You mean to tell me, You Were GIVING AWAY 3 motors, and people wanted to be picky about it, only wanting the best?

I asked them for a reasonable offer over scrap price, I found two bank envelopes of cash under the trunk mat that the old guy stashed. All I got was a bunch of BS on how these parts don’t bring money and how if I scrapped it I would have time and a big mess to deal with. Now if I get cars like this they go to scrap, I don’t have time for all the drama and BS associated with keeping these things around that you might sell a few parts of every year. And I do own a salvage yard

Too late now but I put a battery in it and my stepson drove it home. It had only sat for maybe a month. Four door hardtop

Yes.

I couldn't remember if they were two bolt mains or four bolt mains. I knew at least one was a four bolt block but the others were un known. A few guys couldnt understand why I wouldn't drain the oil out, recycle the oil, pull the oil pan, inspect the main caps and call him back.

:)
