July 7, 1978 Street Racing fatality (16 year old driver & 15 year old passenger). The vehicle it was racing clipped the rear bumper sending it airborne sideways into the pole.
The car was placed on the roof of the tow yard building as a warning and remained there for 34 years. In 2012 they removed and buried the complete car.

Every year around HS prom time, we used to get something similar in IIRC a bank lawn, near where the young people congregated.

It was on the deadliest road in the county, a 4 lane that made basically a half circle around the city, through the burbs.

Famous for street racing.

I drove that road more than twice a day, almost every day to and from HS, and pretty much any shopping trip.

Saw more than a few fatal wrecks, some moments after they happened.

Dang!!! You gotta' wonder how they got the victims' bodies out. Maybe in pieces. Shudder!!!
