I'm selling a 1973 340 std bore one sleeve. The block was bought a couple years ago and I had it tested at the shop and it held 40 psi. All the caps are there but a couple main bolts are missing.

The block is in Des Moines, Iowa 500 obo.

So the block was sonic tested? Is it safe to bore .060?
Did they leave a step at the bottom of the cylinder or bore it all the way thru?

I had it pressure tested not sonic tested. I have no idea on bore potential but a lot of folks frown on boring them any more than needed.

They can frown all they want evidently they don't know what they're talking about. I'm looking for a block that will go 60 over because I have 60 over pistons. Your block was evidently screwed up and had to have a sleeve put in it. So I thought if you had a sleeve put in it you must have had it Sonic tested or magnafluxed.

As I said I got the block a couple years ago. It had a sleeve so I had it pressure tested. He tested it to 40 psi and all was good. I don't know who did what to the block to have it sleeved.

Did they set the sleeve against a step at the bottom of the cylinder or bore straight thru?
Got any lifter valley pictures?
What other machine work has been done to it? Any stripped bolt holes?
Any thing broken off? Like ears for motor mounts or back corners of the block?

I don't know about the sleeve but I will get you better pics. The ears are good. I'll check all the bolt threads and check for any other machine work and the back of the block for you.

Look at the bottom of the sleeve. In the picture it looks like it is set against a step. Check it and see please.

I'll ask my machine shop how it was installed. I don't know the difference and don't want to give you bad intel. He didn't do the sleeve but he will know.

Both motor mount ears are fine, none of the bolt holes are stripped, The sleeve is setting on a lip. The back of the block is fine. I don't see any other machine work. I missed getting a pic of the valley but will in a bit.

What you see is saw dust powder. The guy I got it from had it in his wood shop under a bench. I don't see any dammage but I'll get it out of the van and get it cleaned up a little better tomorrow when I get help.

Somebody did very nice job of removing the casting flash. This block may have been worked on besides having a sleeve put in.
Does it look like it has been decked,?

I'll check when I clean it up. It does look good. One of the things I always do to my stuff but this came this way.
