So you want a how to on how to big block swap?

There are several options, I have done it a few times.

There's option A.

Schumacher conversion mounts. I never did like them for 67 to 72 swaps, you have to trim the driver side perch and I think it reduces the strength of it. Plus you can't hardly find those anymore. I remember I ordered a set back in like 07 or 08 and talked to the old man himself. Nowadays I think he sold the business to some blokes who you can't reach.

There's option B.
Get a v8 spool mount k frame and move the perches to mimic the factory direct connection k frame and use stock 73 and up mounts. That's a great option but unfortunately in 2023, those ks are hard to come by and are not cheap anymore.

Option 3

The option I use: get a stock slant six k frame, spool or biscuit, no matter.

Cut the perches completely off and toss. Then get a sheet of steel of the same thickness of the original perches and fabricate a new perch that accepts stock B body mounts. They are available and strong because they have a cross bolt that goes through the perch and retainer pin on the face of the perch which i had not drilled out by the last pic. Not a complete pic set but gives you an idea.

Option D.

You can use motor plates that bolt or weld to the inner fenders. I personally don't like the race look, but some people do.

This 15 pm limit is bullshit, i cain't keep it clear. But I'm always rat cheer even when I try to leave this site. I was fixin to fix on a B body and move on over to FBBO but then I got the tractor beam back over here since I found a duster fer sell fer my younger cuzzin and we done brought it home like that time the cat tried brininging a dead mouse into shop..... like that.

There's just something about working on B bodies that is just not as fun as working on an A body.

Because you're so small it takes you a good week to get all around a B body. That's why.

Back on the big block swap.

I'm not sure if you're going to try an RB or a B block.

Imo I'm done with RB. The RB makes life really hard because it really is crammed. Then you run into bullshit problems like master cylinder being too close. Putting a 4 speed with an RB makes a tough one too. It's so much easier to run a 727 with an RB. The RB is taller and wider than a B.

Last time I did this I Used a cast crank 440 in a 72 swinger long time ago and never again. I'm saving the 440 for a B body.

The duster is getting a 400. I've never had a 400 before so this is new to me but it seems dead on same physical size as a 383 and lower and narrower deck make it so much easier to work with.

I have a set of 348 heads if I recall correctly, from a 66 383. I was thinking of putting them on the 400 to raise the compression because I'm pretty sure they are closed chamber. I'm not sure what the 400 has for heads but I'm thinking 452s because it's 1978 vintage.

You will have much better luck if you get the KB piston designed for the 400 and use the later open chamber heads. It will breathe MUCH better than with those crappy no flowing closed chamber boat anchors. Just some friendly advice.

The only thing being small gets is I get wasted way faster than you do, on less and cheaper beer lol.

When you're small you always have a fence pipe cheater bar handy.

I forgot to mention to rusty @RustyRatRod and anyone else, they have smokey and the bandit at Wallly world for 7 fiddy. Tonight is a good night to watch this.

I found it in the valentines day stuff which is weird but I found it when I was buying valentines stuff for myself.

I have never watch the whole movie but I'm Fixin to fix that.
