Hi Folks

Looking to order a WP from Rockauto for my 2007 Ram 1500 5.7. They have a bunch listed..........Does anyone have any experience or recommendation as to manufacturer?

Thanks FABO

Any name brand part should work well enough. Just be honest with yourself before ordering anything; did it overheat badly or just run a little warm while it was leaking. These engines will often drop a valve seat shortly after replacing a water pump IF it was badly overheated. If it boils over a lot or several times, be prepared for the worst.

I knew about this and tried to keep it from overheating when my 2008 started leaking coolant about a year and a half ago. So far it is still running, so I think I am ok.

Also check the fan clutch for excessive looseness. Mine was wobbly, not spinning loose. I figured that contributed to the water pump going out. Plus, here in Michigan with salted roads in winter, the fan blade rusted badly and was delaminating. The blades were coming apart like sheets of paper pealing off. So, check all that before ordering parts. Hopefully yours is ok like mine was.

LOL......What he said

Was making a whining sound when cold, so I bought an idler tensioner kit to install......Same deal with the fan (rotted and delaminating) so I bought one of those too! When I pulled the belt and the fan, the pulley (impeller shaft) had up and down movement, so I figure the pump is shot (probably making the noise). No leaks, and not overheating (lucky me). Like you said, maybe that shitty fan wore out the bushings in the pump. Will do hoses and T stat while I am at it......And check the clutch lateral movement.

Thanks for the input!
