Our above average fall/winter temps are over - minus 40 coming!

We had a very calm winter till now (they actually said we would have extreme up's and downs this winter)
and , we had not had any major moisture since July , it was very dry as well .

well, that has made an abrupt reversal. I seem to be right in the bullseye too ..Just before Christmas got a 3 inch snow , then 6 inches couple days later .. cleaned that mess up, had some high twentys so some melted, roads were clear, driverways were clear ,, and then ..

Last weekend 12 inches, next day 4 inches , then 5 inches day after , then 5 inches and in last 24 hours at minimum another 5 and its brutal cold , windchills expected to be -40

that's 40 inches of snow in 15-17 days .. our average per year here is 55ish .. its nuts

We could seriously use some snow. I used to say that the cold keeps the riff raff out of these parts but I'm not so sure these days.

Our area was for most part still quite sparsely populated just not too long ago, covid lockdowns, political fighting. ..Our governor was and still is praised by many so, they came like lost souls to mecca.

Home prices have tripled , traffic has become unbearable. crime has shot up ..

lots of trouble makers have made their way here now

I will share some local snow pics from our area

This is just outside Sioux City .. they are stuck here for now , they tell people not to travel and yet, they got to get stuck .. see the row of trucks blocking the road

Unfortunately that seems to be the only constant, instead of appreciation for the opportunity to have a good quality of living, the lowlife and scum continue to prey on others. Sad really.

We had no snow until last week, and we'll above normal temperatures. Now we're in the deep freeze with temperatures at -28*f, and windchill of -48* and probably about 8 to 10 inches of snow.
My old 2014 Volvo VNM tractor is the only one that started today, lucky me, now I get to freeze my *** all day, again.

It doesn't look like you have much snow cover much like us. I'm a little worried about what is coming this summer. The cities and towns are being told to start planning for water conservation.

I suppose average depth before this last one was about 12 inches in the open areas , our local rivers are dy have been for couple years ( not the Missouri) but, in 2019 we had record flooding everywhere

Yup. The piper has come calling. There is always a payment for comfort Lol.
