Circle D/Summit torque converters

-
You still might call Circle D and see if they can make something. You might could order it through Summit. You never know.
A lot of times it is not in their catalogs or online but if you actually call and speak to a salesman… they have a part number and can get them at the Summit price.

I used J&K Torque converters just outside of New Hamburg. If you have a core they will rebuild it to your specs. No shipping and no currency exchange.

I am installing the new engine and transmission over the winter. I haven't used it yet, but have good reports from others that have used them.

Definitely worth a phone call. I have one or 2 tc kicking around BUT apparently my 904(currently in car) being a 67 is oddball... :BangHead:

In Eastern Canada, why not give SMR in Bradford Ontario a call? The owner I met a number of years back was a very very active drag racer and knowledgeable about HP transmissions and converters.

Yes, I think you mentioned him before. I'm not looking for HP, just a bit above stock 340. I'll give him a shout. Thanks

I believe that Pat Storey has retired and closed SMR. I used to race with him years ago. He built the converter for my cuda. That is the reason I went with J&K this time.

The Black painted converters that Summit sells are rebranded ACC Boss Hog.

It's a shame about ACC HOG, they were some decent street converters back in the late 80s to early 90s. I had one in my street rod and it out performed two other converters I had tried.

They've steadily gone downhill. The Chevy guys still love um. That should tell us somethin. lol

I've run lots of PTC converters in the past and they never failed to do exactly what I was lookin for. Pretty affordable, too.

Like a lot of us, there comes a time to hit the retire button. I met Pat a number of years back at one of the big car shows in Toronto. We were at the show displaying our performance converters and in particular the drums, shafts, pumps and other HP hard parts we were producing. He also showed interest in converter parts we had started to make. Pat liked the products and became a good customer of ours. From a personal side, he was one of my favourite customers. Great guy and I hope he is enjoying retirement.
