I'm looking for a 1971 slant 6 225, complete and running in the past if possible; ideally with an auto trans on the column, but not totally necessary. I live in NewYork, so hopefully it would be within driving distance. Thanks for reading.

I do have that slant six still available at $150. Very close to I-95/295 by the Delaware river at both places, Scudders Falls & Bristol, Pa.
 
I've got a great running Slant six in this burgundy 71 duster that I'm pulling out to put a big block in it you can get it and the transmission for a very great price but I'm in South Carolina.....

I have everything you need in Northern Ohio. It might not be a 71 engine but it and 904 column shift transmission ran perfectly when I swapped it out in 2023. It has the super six intake and Clifford long tube headers. Your inbox is full where I'd give you my phone number to chat about it if you want. It's in the corner of my garage, I can dig it out to get casting numbers and photos if you're interested.

South Carolina, that's a long drive from upstate New York.

Where in northern Ohio?
 
I'm just wondering.....since the 225s are pretty much carbon copies of each other from 68 to 75 or 76....."whenever" they went to the cast crank, why is a 71 so important? I could understand if you were looking for a vin specific engine.....and good luck with THAT. Any forged crank 225 from 68 on will work fine.
 
Because I'm putting the car back to factory correct. I already sold the non-original engine that was in it. It was a '74 225.

"Factory correct" would be the original matching engine. So no, unless you find that, it's not factory correct. But good luck in your endeavors.
 
No, that would be factory original. I'm working to put it back to factory correct, which is using the correct parts as it came from the factory.
 
I have a couple that are the 68 and up large crank register, but one, I ain't diggin um all out to find out none are a 71 model and two they're not for sale.
 
Yes, I thought they were plentiful back in the day, but they're starting to get hard to find now.. If everyone holds on to them, maybe they'll sell for hemi prices in thirty years.

At least some will still be around and not scrapped. I would actually give one away if I wanted to get rid of one. If I knew for sure I could find another when I needed it, I would.
 
Still looking, if anyone has one available, preferably located in or near New York.
 
It took me a year to get $150 for a slant. Wait. not true, the guy bought one and I gave him the other!!!!! IF I was needing one, it would be a 500 mi trip (one way!) :BangHead: :BangHead: :BangHead: :steering:
 
My friend has a Mopar junkyard here in NY.
Since it's a junkyard, and I do not normally look for slant 6s, cannot say whether he has a 71 slant, but I plan on going back as soon as this deep freeze ends.
I could take a look then.
 
Ya, that would be great. I'll bet alot of the old mopars there have slant sixes. They were in alot of cars back in the day. Thanks.
 
Just curious but, where would I find the production date on slant six. I'm not sure because I've never looked. Is it cast right into the block too?
Maybe the one I have IS a late 70, early 71 casting. I don't know for sure.
