Safelite sucks!

My daughter’s 2015 Jeep Wrangler needs a new windshield. There is a place in Topeka called Jayhawk body shop and glass, and they have very reasonable prices on glass replacement. They have done glass replacement for me before, and their work is amazing. Their price was $239, and Safelite was $489, and I found out the glass comes from the same place. Plus, Safelite wanted my name, address, phone number, email, VIN number and they wanted to set up an appointment before they even gave me the quote. Getting a quote from them was like pulling teeth. Plus, I called the local number, and was transferred automatically to the national 800 number. Plus, I wound up having to hang up on the lady I was talking to because she just wasn’t going to stop trying to convince me to go with them.

A friend of mine had her driver's and passengers side windows broken. Used Safelite and they left the car a mess plus some of the trim was not put back properly. I will never use. Check with local glass businesses or body shop recommendations.

Don't get me started on Safe fn Lite.
Made an appointment last year for work on 95 Roadmaster and waiting for tech 2 1/2 hours at their shop the dude came and said hadn't a clue and obviously wouldn't get done so I bailed and rescheduled.

Next trip an hour plus away I showed and Bastard Fks left me waiting for 2 plus hours before I blew up and left.

Fukem and continue to spread the gospel !

They came right to my house which is a bit out of the way, and had the work done quickly. Price was comparable to other outfits, especially considering they came to me instead of me having to drive a considerable distance to one of the other shops.

My 95 Roadmaster was all 4 side window related problemos.

Windshields seems to be their specialty especially newer vehicles.

It's an '02, so definitely not newer. Side windows I do myself, I just don't like monkeying around with windshields because I rarely have enough help and the gaskets and sealer are a PITA.

It's a national chain, so I'm sure there's some differences from one location to another. The tech that came out and did the work was great. And yeah, I didn't have to talk to anyone on the phone until the tech called to tell me he was on the way, I did everything from the quote to the appointment scheduling online, very easy.

Fair question. Just to see how much higher they were. About 20 years ago, after hearing a zillion Safelite commercials, I called them for an estimate on a windshield for the Dakota. I had just painted it and powder coated the wheels. They wanted like $300. I called Jayhawk and they did it for $125. And the guy at Jayhawk said they get their glass from the same place. Both times Safelite was more than twice as high. Then, about 6 months later, the idiot daughter of the nice lady across the street plowed into the left side if my truck. It was totaled. I loved that truck. I was in the process of rebuilding/renewing everything. The interior was next. It was a 2.5 4 cyl, 5 speed and the air blew ice cold. I would still have it today.

I guess it depends where you're at, could be they're under staffed and over worked.
They're pretty good around here, probably a little hungry compared to larger areas.

We use a locally owned redneck owned joint called Billy's mobile glass for car stuff if it's something I don't wanna mess with. They always do a good job. If it's something for the house, one of the deacons in our church works for a glass company. In fact, he just came out and replaced the glass in our front door after I hit a rock with the mower and shattered it. He wouldn't take one red cent. Instead, we put $100 in the offering plate. Keep it local!
