Headers that dont break the bank

You obviously haven't driven on Illinois roads

True. But I also don’t drive down back alleys at full boil and hit rail road crossings with the butterflies standing on end.

But I do live on a private unimproved road and my driveway is about 700 feet.

I do know at the next road meeting I’m going to ***** about the speed trenches they dig in the road.

They need to make them wider and if they did they could go a bit deeper.

Of course, it would be nice if people would self govern their own speed and we wouldn’t need them.

Honestly, the scrapping wasn't my complaint (although they did a time or three). It's the room, quality and fitment of the Doug's even after they are installed vs the cyclones or whatever cheapies I've installed over the years that make me say "it's worth an extra couple hundred" - they last longer too.

It's always the "go Doug's or TTI crowd" and I agree they're nice. But, what the HELL did people use before those? You got it. Summit, Hedman, Flow Tec, Hooker and on and on. As long as your car sits at the stock ride height in the front with at least stock height front tires, you won't have a problem. The cheaper headers work fine.
Agree 100%. I’ve always used the cheaper headers and they fit just fine. My duster came with headers that had a tight fit on a couple of tubes, but I’ve got the spark plug wire insulators over the wires and have had absolutely no issues with spark plug wires being burnt. A discount brand of headers will outflow stock exhaust manifolds all day long. You can also remove the cheap paint that comes on the discount headers and repaint them with a high heat header paint and cycle them a few times to let the paint cure correctly. Just my two cents on this subject.

Yes and some of these cats act like they've never heard of long reach plug wire boot pliers. lol

I remember that my first set of "cheapy" headers cost $39.95. That was 1983-'84. My how times have changed. A kid with a push mower could make enough money to get started in the hobby.
