The body on the bottom has Duster front fender well openings. Which is the newer kit?

Pretty sure the upper one is the new Demon.
The plastic has a whiter tint.

The new 71 Demon kit is very nice even though it doesn't have the 72 Duster detail. Goes together like a kit should and btw MPC/AMT is coming out later this year with a new 72 Duster 340 kit. I think it is based on the new 71 Demon kit.

The "new" '72 Duster looks to be a cleaned up repop of the MPC kit from 1972. Looks like they removed the script on the tail light panel and amped up the side marker lights and windshield wiper arms. The chassis is the same they used on all the MPC A Body kits I've seen including the Demon, which has nothing in common with the 1998 AMT/ERTL '71 Duster 340 release.

And it's Round 2 that's releasing these kits. They bought the AMT name and molds as well as MPC which went under in 2011.

It's too bad, as the AMT '71 Duster is really well made and detailed.
In comparison, MPC model kits are simplistic and sloppy. Their tooling is outdated.
The only advantage of MPC is to propose a '71 Demon model kit, what has never done AMT (as far as I know)

Marrying the Demon body with the Duster frame/interior tub isn't a piece of cake. It's a lot of trimming as the chassis is longer than the Demon body. I had to slightly cut the rear end.

But it's necessary to obtain a decent '71 Demon model kit...

Now, the slant 6 is installed... and waiting for its hoses
