Did you find what you went for? Was the price affordable?

I didn't go due to the heat and my health.

But friends brought me some items back I needed.

They all told me the same thing. Many people would get spots come with an empty truck . They would drive around Wed. Thur. and buy things up to resell on friday and Saturday to double their money. They are Parking on the grounds and getting paid to be there. If you get a spot You can also bring in Scooters, Pit bikes , Golf carts, and motorcycles to drive around in the early morning and evening to buy items to sell. That is why there are never any spots to acquire

A friend sold Challenger Vinyl trim thursday for $30 each. The guy took all three sets and a cuda set.
While walking around he saw the same guy selling the same trim for $200 a set. He was there with a Pickup truck and a table with more parts he could have came with.. Guys like this ruin the hobby.

. A couple members on this site are very guilty of this.

There are also members here that bring a truck load a long distance. I commend them for bringing the needed parts and they deserve to get their asking price.

That is why the first place I go is to the end of the second row. Take him a cheeseburger with Ketchup and tell him Steve sent you. You'll get the best deal if you Mention you hate Red Dusters.

I have a couple of local friends that went. I asked them if they might find me a 14 x 5.5" small bolt pattern plain steel wheel. Just one. You'd figure they'd find ONE. Nothin doin. That's my luck, though. LOL

Flippers give me the ***** :( Sorry if I offended anyone JMO.

I don’t go to Carlisle but do go to the Nationals at Columbus. I’m not trying to make a living selling stuff, so everything is affordable. Still have people (and a well known vendor) come around on Thursday trying to buy stuff cheap. I’ll try to give a young gun a deal if possible. See everyone in August!

I thought Cralisle was good. The main problem was that it was almost 95 degrees and super humid. I was ready to pass out for four hours straight. We ended up leaving early, before it got hotter. But on the nice side I did find a nice set of driver quality correct hubcaps for my Demon for $20. Funny, a few tables down someone was selling them for $250.
But overall it was very interesting. There was a surprising amount of NOS parts for sale (or maybe patina'd repros made to look NOS). Also it was nice to see Dodge Neons, Dodge Shelbys, Chrysler Maseratis, and other lesser loved Mopars at the show. Also, the legendary Linda Vaughn was at the show signing autographs.
The FxBO tent was awesome too. The lunch was the best, and all the friendly people were even better. I made sure to drop a donation in the donation box.

I'd also noticed some very rare parts for sale at the swap meet too, which was pretty nice. There was a very rare set of Fiberide wheels for sale, and also some super rare Dodge Shelby wheel covers. For anyone unfamiliar with Fiberides, they're plastic (not metal) wheels made for some Dodge Shelbys in 1989, only 750 sets of them were made. Also there was cut roof with a factory retractable sunroof for a '70- '72 Duster. I don't know how many of those were made but they're probably pretty rare.
Overall, Carlisle was nice. I didn't find the floor pan or rockers was looking for, but it was still a good time.

I might be in the minority, here. Several years ago, I went to the MOPARS at Don Garlits show/swap. I had several parts I was not going to use, and put them up for sale. Had a guy try to "low ball" my price (which I thought was a fair price). I didn't budge, and he bought the items at my asking price. Later in the day, a friend came to me and said that person was selling those parts at a markup", and "I should have words with him". Why? I got my price, (I was satisfied) they are now his parts, and he can do what he wants with them. He might sell them that day, or he might have to sit on them for a year or more.
What frosts my balls, is some one that tries to "low ball" me, saying they really need the part for their project, but can only spend $*** (I have been in that position). So "I cut them a break". Then find out they flipped the part. That really pisses me off.

I was told if you were selling cold water or Cheese burgers at the end of row 2 you left with a big profit. My best find ever was always the Sausage stand below the food court. Dropped a lot of cash there and gained a lot of belly.

I just sold all my small bolt stuff on this forum for under market value. If someone can turn around and sell them for more money have at I could not care less....

I just sold my 5'th one that was my spare for $25. If I had knows you wanted one would have hooked you up.

I guy came to my spots. We loved having fun with people. So I had a Big block 4bbl air cleaner and a 318 2 bbl. The price was marked 2 for $5 or $10 each.
He offered to buy 1 The 4bbl for $5. I said No! its $10 for one but he could take both for $5. He said that doesn't make sense . So we went back and forth for a while . There was a guy listening. He interrupted and asked would you take $5 for the pair. I said yes but you must take both. he paid me the $5 , Picked them up walked across the isle and through the 318 in the trash can and walked away. The first guy stood there dumbfounded.

We were on the corner at the car corral by the shitters. A young boy was there with his mom. He went into the shitter . He finished up opened the door holding the smeller from the urinal. He yelled to his mom. " Mom How do you turn the water on" She was so embarrassed. She grabbed him by the shirt , wouldn't hold his hand yelling at him not to touch his face. I never laughed that hard in my life.

We went there to have fun and there are many things I could relate to Carlisle experiences that are good times. I could go on with stories for ever.

Sucks getting old.

Agree, life is to short to get upset over another mans/women's business, live and let live if I can't continue hanging on the parts, happy day everyone

Guy had 2 down there I asked about. 75 per wheel he wanted

Guy who bought some of my small bolt stuff brought two original paint '69 Barracuda fenders to Carlisle to some guy that pre paid him $1800. Guy turns around list them for $3500.

Surprisingly, I've never been to Carlisle as long as I've been fooling with this old stuff. I need to go in the next year or 2 before I get too old! I'll be 68 in a few weeks.....and time is definitely moving faster! :BangHead: @Oldmanmopar Steve, you must be talking about Mike giving a good deal for hating on red Duster's! LOL.

I've never been to Carlisle, either. Even when I lived in NJ. Probably will never make it. My wife won't/can't travel, and I can't leave her alone over night (medical issues). Also at my age (83) a trip like that (from Fl.) is hard on me

Yeah, He is the greatest and The first place I would go in the early morning with a breakfast sandwich to just sit and bullshit. I always have an extra to butter him up for a good deal. But you have to keep it in the golf cart until you hear his stomach growling. Make sure its dry then pop the cooler open when he starts choking. Coke cola on a string and lead him to the part you want. He is going to bring a 340 for a stroker install. Can't wait to see him. There is a burger shop right down the road.

Beware of parts like this. Many are AMD resprayed with Red oxide added dirt and Patina then sold as NOS. Look close and you can usually tell. I almost got taken with similar fenders for my Demon. They even had a stenciled
Yea people are so grimey anymore. Wouldn't surprise me. Do you have any feedback on AMD 70-71 fenders? Fitment or quality, steve?

I have seen Duster fenders and they had a side bulge but heard that was corrected. The Right side quarters have a bad issue as do the tail light panels do not fit the Demon tail lights.

$75 a wheel must be a flipper
Few years ago another guy had 4 or 5 of them. 50 a wheel. On my way out. I seen an old pair of chrome reverse Small bolt pattern. 14x6? Something like that. Rusty but usable. Think they were $40 for the pair.

Arrived home a few hours ago.
I have been vending for years, and partying with other FABO Members.
Yesterday I was told 7 people by noon time were being treated for heat related issue's.

Theft is a big problem anymore. A vendor 2 spots down has signs up and security cameras.
I doubt that will help.
It seems to me like attendance is down this year, both vendors and buyers.
Like myself most packed up, and left last night or this morning.
I did OK. Just not worth it any more. Pre paid for my spots for next year , but probably flip them. Almost did this year.
