Is all of the sheet metal that it needs even available? Looks like the back section is gone. I don't know what it would be worth when finished, but I'm sure that there is several thousand dollars just in metal. Does it have the number matching engine, transmission, rearend? If not that hurts the value
Actually yes the sheet metal is available. This not a project I would pay someone else to do. That's what gets you in foreclosure.

I don't know anything about these trucks. Why no buy? Looks nice. I'm not a fan of custom dashes; too much chance of crazy wiring under it.

EDIT: Never mind. Screwed up title. I guess.
Most of the forest trucks that i've seen are four door short beds.. and that would have nothing to do with branding the title.. most titles are branded because the vehicle got in an accident that was worth more to fix the vehicle than to salvage it to the insurance company, meaning they thought it was a $500 truck and it got $700 worth fender, damage or wrinkled door and now it's branded... this kind of stuff didn't start happening until in the eighties, I believe when people started branding titles or insurance companies did for accidents, which means all of our cars, should really have branded titles when they got in accidents a long time ago, but they weren't keeping count...
I had one of these trucks with a branded title and the best I could find was a fender that had been repainted...
If someone can't rebuild the original seats, it's hard to find truck bench seats that fold forward on both sides...
I'm not a big fan of these aftermarket seats..
While there seems to be plenty of room for bargaining. This guy hasn't completely lost his mind....

I was thinking about this last night a bit....

I seem to recall that Richard Rawlings bought a pretty rare (1 of 3, I think?) Q-code '64 Galaxie convertible years ago that, while not in quite as bad of shape as that '70 Challenger, was pretty "rough". So rough, in fact, that he sold his share to one his buddies, who himself has "deep pockets", and will rebuild/restore it.

I love me some old Ford Galaxies, but I just don't see it there, either.

But good luck to all of 'em, and God bless 'em for bringing these cars back to life!

I think the coolest thing is that we can even have the debate. Years ago there was almost no choice to rebuild these things. My 70 Barracuda Convertible would be one of those left to the ashes if were still that way.

1984 Dodge RamCharger for sale by owner - Albuquerque, NM - craigslist
$7200 (I don't know about the mirrors)

It's odd that the chunk of Challenger above has no partial VIN on the cowl, since it looks like it has never been messed with. Maybe to seller doesn't know what he's looking for. There's no partial VIN on the trunk lip rails of E bodies, just the cowl and rad support. Rare as it is.....that thing is a jail sentence waiting to happen now that it has been splattered onto the interwebs!

Yeah I missed the part about lacking the cowl stamping. That is odd and makes it harder to justify/validate for sure. Could be worth the effort to authenticate though. IF it is real, that's an odd like things that adds to the story, unless it was replaced "recently". How long have cowls been available? Could be a late Friday car that made it out? Who knows but at least I'm not in the position to do anything about it, lol.

Dan is in route as we speak.. He realized 1 section Identifies as a car too

in california a vehicle can carry a branded title if it was previously used in a city/state/federal capacity.

i've bought many a former police car that had a branded title, so it doesn't always mean salvaged, rebuilt or junk-- at least not in CA

imma let the rest of your statement lay. i know what you meant re: salvage, but the wording/phrasing is incorrect

I guess my overall opinion as if someone's looking for a full size 4 wheel drive club cab in this year. This isn't a hard pass for sure...It definitely needs some negotiation for sure..
If the paint and body work R in truly as good a shape as it looks from a distance. This really maybe an actual good deal. But who knows...
For instance, here's a picture of when I bought my power wagon in the year that I wanted... i only paid $1200 for it. But the floorboards were gone, the bottoms of the doors were gone. The rocker panels were gone one of the fenders, was crunched, and the transmission was out of the vehicle... a tire was flat and the rest were rotten sixteen and a half inch wheels that nobody has....
