Need a radiator solution for a 69 dart

-
I am currently kinda layed up from a surgery. The radiator is for a '69 Dart, so not an aluminum water pump '70 and up, there's 3/4" difference between the cast iron and aluminum pump, along with the inlet/outlets locations being different. . 2947 Hayden clutch if I remember, and the 215/216 Mopar fan. I think my shroud is a /6 turned 180°, unable to look at it now.

I was able to come up with a 68 gts radiator and shroud. I have it in and it bolted right up.
There is a 7 blade fan that came with it, but no clutch. Just a spacer.

It sits right as far as being halfway in and halfway out of the shroud. It doesn’t have a part number that I can see.

But is that fan too small for that shroud. It’s about 1” down
The shroud is 20” across

I want to put a clutch in there. Maybe I need the 215?

Also……what is the clip that secures the shroud together on the bottom.

I've never seen a shroud with clips to hold it together but I haven't seen everything either.

Once it's bolted in, it's not going anywhere. If it was me, I'd probably just leave it alone.

I've fixed shrouds by cutting a piece of roof sheathing (thin sheetmetal) and JB welding it on the inside out of sight to bridge the gap and hold the two sides together.

That looks like it has good pitch.

That's a 17" fan in a shroud that will hold an 18" fan. Yes it will look tiny.

In post #26 you said "2947 Hayden clutch if I remember, and the 215/216 Mopar fan". I hate to say this but you might be going backward on your fan selection.

Rock Auto says Hayden 2747 for a HD clutch to fit a 69 Dart More Information for HAYDEN 2747

My stroker doesn't over heat with my set up. The fan isn't even in the shroud like it's supposed to be.

I wouldn't buy chit from Classic.
About 12 years ago, when I was doing a complete ground up restoration (completely blown apart and stripped to bare metal) on the 69 Barracuda fastback, I bought a ton of stuff from Classic. I was on their Email list, and I got 20-25% discount sale notifications all the time. The one time I had a bad part, they took care of me quite nicely. I haven't had to buy anything from them since then. So I was wondering what happened? They were great to deal with 12 years ago.
Thanks.

I’ll keep the 17”.
Why is that going backward?
Is it the clutch part or the 215 fan.

I think the 215 is also a 7 blade but it’s only 1” difference. How much that will be I don’t know.

Fwiw, in my 67 383 a-body, I have the factory bb radiator, Hayden 2947 low profile fan clutch, Derale 18" fan, no shroud, zero temp issues.

Hayden clutch and the Derale fan are a great readily available combo.

I meant to delete the part about going backward - I misread an earlier post and thought you were saying you had a clutch and 215 fan already.

That makes sense. I’m going to get the 215 and a clutch

Even with the spacer and the 17” fan. So far, the car cools better than it ever has.

I bought a shroud from Mancini for my Duster and modified it to fit the Champion radiator by cutting it in half and removing some material. I then drilled holes in each section top & bottom and attached them with a metal strap & screws. No big deal and it worked great!

here's another option that is slightly cheaper

then scoop up the shroud from classic or mancini

then outfit it with a big clutch fan.

fwiw, this is basically what i've run for the better part of 30 years-- stock 22" 3 core, shroud and the MP viscous fan package (you can piece together a 18" fan and clutch these days).

to note, i do run a flowkooler pump.

one aspect to be aware of is waterpump (6 blade or 8 blade) and pulley sizes matter.

remember it's designed as a system. it all needs to work together for the best result.
that is what i bought 5 6 years ago worked great never overheats Alu rads tend to crack or other **** ups after 4 or 5 years the old style rads lasted i used my original 50 year old rad until 5 yeas ago . if you change the fluid and use distiled water they last years A good shroud and big clutch fan and you are good to go

My 69 dart has no radiator, fan or shroud.

I’ve been looking at a champion cooling direct fit. With a new shroud from classic industries.

If I can get a good used radiator, fan and shroud from a 69 dart. That would be nice

Any suggestions would be good. I’m on a tight budget so I’m not looking for something that’s going to run $1000
I have an early 70's mopar radiator and shroud. If that'll work. I'll have to get pictures on Monday if interested.

I got the 215 fan.
I’m looking at the 2797 fan clutch to go with it. It says this is the one that goes with the 2”+ fan. That should round out and finish the cooling system and bring it back to close to stock.

And don't get sold on the more cores the better , 2 core with good sized tubes is fine foe a small block

i bought 2 alternators from them 2 years ago , both blew up after 1 month of use had to have them rebuilt they used total crap building the alternators ,I will nevr nuy from them again

Denso alternator on my cars, no issues.
My 64 has an old alternator from a junk car that charges like a champ.

Denso alternator?

What’s that all about?

I’ll do a search on it, but I’ve not heard of anything other than a regular alternator for the 318

Fan is 4” blade.
Sticks out 2 1/2” out of the shroud and 1.5” in the shroud

So it’s not half in half out.
That’s with a Hayden 2747 and the factory 215 fan.

I’m guessing that fine
