Glutton for Punishment
I am in the process of rebuilding a 904 transmission for my 71 Dart that will have a 340 in it. The transmission I have rebuilt is from a car that had a 318 in it. I have completely finished the geartrain rebuild and am making the modifications to the valve body to install a Fairbanks shift kit. I made the mistake of following the Fairbanks instructions and drilled through the valve body casting. I have a core 904 from an AMC car with a 258 ci engine that is complete. The core valve body upper casting and separator plate are physically different. Can I bail myself out by using the core valve body, if I use the complete assembly, or did I screw myself big time? Thanks for your help!
