A DEAL SURE AIN'T WHAT IT USED TO BE

-
I found and bought a car dolly so I could take my purchases with me immediately.

It's been one of the best $450 investments I've ever made (plus a $150 winch), as now I basically own a "tow truck" and it has saved my *** more than a few times.

Helps to have three vehicles that can all tow each other, if necessary.
The good ones are really nice. The only thing to watch out for is, if you prefer to tow a vehicle from behind and I do, then you need to have a very positive way to keep the steering wheel straight that will STAY PUT.

Well hopefully your getting f'd works like mine this summer. Told a dealer on a Monday that I wanted his $50k John Deere and front blower and I'd be home from Camp on Friday to see and pay for it. Offered 3 times to send a deposit and it was "no, I'll hold it for you'! Thursday afternoon he texts me and states "thought I should tell you I sold the tractor today" !

Thursday night about midnight I see a bigger Kubota5740 with 80" front blower and send a message I want to see it Friday, in Huntsville, on our way home. Offer a deposit and get "my word is my bond" and I keep requesting I can give them a deposit.. nope! Figure I'm gonna get screwed again. Show up in Huntsville about Noon and they've had 25 people wanting to buy it, some offering 15 grand more than asking.

Wrote him a cheque for $29,500 and he even delivered it to the door! The savings paid for my skid steer... LOL

Nice to know that there are still honest people around. It's nice to hear the good stories. I see that you've got the skid steer issues straightened out!

Just lost this one. Drove 70 miles to see it told him I want it but, I needed to check on price of things it needed and someone to do the work. I also had to find a transporter with a winch because it doesn't run due to an electrical fire. NO, I didn't leave a deposit, because I wanted to see if all my figures added up to something I could live with. Stupid. We're in contact on line, and calls to him, so he knows I'm working on it. Tell him Thursday is the day I'll pick it up. Calls me Monday morning, changed his mind about selling. Ordered the harnesses needed, and luckily I got back to them to cancel shipping them. I'm sick, and pissed.

A few years before Al Gore invented the internet, I was looking at the classic car ads in the San Antonio newspaper. I found a King Midget car! Garage kept, owned by the sellers grandparents. Seller wanted it for his kids, then discovered it was too fast for them. Asking $250.

I called him - 75 mile drive for me. We made the deal on the phone and I told him I was on my way with cash.

2 hrs later, I’m at his house and he says, “Oh, another guy got here about 30 minutes before you and gave me $300 for it…”

I feel your pain.

I never claimed it was in the rules.
I would appreciate it if you'd honor my request. I asked nicely. We have a section for web site questions and suggestions. If you have complaints, that's the proper place for that as well, instead of continuing to sidetrack one thread after another. Thanks.

Buyers for classics around here are few and far between! Probably 100"come
look" I simply tell him, IF he will want the car to bring cash. Or he can wore my acct. the $ the next morning. I tell him the car will be here for him to inspect at the time he says he will arrive, and it will be exactly like I told him. IF he did not want to discuss the cars particulars, on the phone, then he do not maybe get the full inio! Generally a real buyer wants to talk on the cell, not not always anymore!!!!

Funny part today.... I have bought more than a few old cars over the phone based on pics and sellers info, yes conversation s on the phone), as it was a case where it would be a couple weeks before I could make the trip (Usually a days worth) to pick it up. Yea now days. I have tried to buy 3 different cars on off Marketplace, deal would be have a contract we both sign, transport to pick it up in a certain # of days, wire them the $ to their back acct, BUT NO!!! Are they just afraid of scammers, have no bank account, are they scammers, just to ignorant?????? REALLY!?????

Cheaper to have a hotshot bring it than drive 2 days. I gave up.

Post # 37 above you stated that I claimed it was in the rules. I never claimed that.
Go back to #30 and#31.
I never claimed you said it was in the rules you implied it was so I sent you on a mission to find it. Now you THINK an administrator posted it.

Something looks odd about that Bee quarter panel.

Part is the reflection, but part is it just looks wrong. Poorly installed replacement, or full of 'doh.

Hi Folks

A bit of a rant............

I just got home from a 5 hour round trip in a snow storm to look at a nice, low mileage Toyota Rav4. The car was great...We negotiated a price and shook on the deal. All that was left was for him to take the car in for a safety inspection on Monday when the shops opened.

As I pulled into my driveway, I got a text from said seller advising that someone had offered him more than our negotiated price.....So he **** canned our deal.

WTF....I know it's his car to do with what he wants, but isn't a man's word worth anything anymore?

LOL......I texted him to request an E-Transfer of $100 bucks to compensate me for the wasted fuel, so we'll see if I hear back :)

Thanks for listening FABO:thumbsup:
Was this in Sudbury? My son made a deal with a guy on a Rav4 last week only to have pretty much the same happen to him. Some people have no morels these days.

That's why I ask if they have the buyer/seller package from the MTO before going to look. No surprises.
He did not......I would want the buyers package dated on the money transfer day. I would be worried that a lien could be registered a day after he got the package printed....What can I say, I'm paranoid :)

I was talking to this hot chick at the bar, and asked her if she wanted to go out next Friday night. She said 'sure!' so I left her at the bar and went home. Next Friday came around, and she was dating some other guy! The nerve of some people!
