383, 440 Source aluminum heads, headers.
Driven all the time forever.

Swapped in a new radiator, electric fans, aluminum water pump housing, and new flowcooler water pump.

No other changes.

O2 sensor error, coolant coming out at the O2 in a constant drip.

Called 440 Source, their heads have closed exhaust bolt holes, do not go into water jacket.

Theory, flowcooler water pump blew exhaust gasket.
Need to pull head off, replace head gasket, mine as well replace driver's side head gasket, and buy stock water pump.

What's the best head gasket out there?
Can I reuse the ARP head bolts?

Thoughts?

Yes, you can reuse your ARP head bolts

Cometic is my MLS head gasket of choice. Felpro is good too. Do both of them at the same time to confirm they have the same compressed thickness.

Have you drained the oil to see if it's milky?

Are you saying that the water pump produces enough pressure to blow out the exhaust manifold gasket (how would that be possible)? OR do you believe the head gasket failed near an exhaust valve?

Personally I don't see how any water pump could develop that much pressure. Maybe the cooling system is not properly vented and the internal pressure got WAY high but I would expect hoses / rad core to be bursting long before the head gasket.

Water in the exhaust would be a blown head gasket from incorrect install, warped damaged head or deck surface, bad machine job on the sealing surfaces, bad head gasket, cracked cyl wall, pinhole in the head or cyl wall between the water jacket & combustion chamber. Are you sure its not a leaking freeze plug that is spraying on the manifold under the right conditions and trickling down to the low point (o2 sensor area) and then to the ground.

Not to mention if you had a blown head gasket there would be coolant in one or more of the cylinders.

To me its just a coincidence, nothing to do with what you did to the cooling system.

JUST my 2 cents

Are you SURE it's leaking out of the O2 sensor, and not just leaking on top of it from somewhere else? That's a lotta coolant that would need to fill the pipe to the point of coming out of a top- mounted sensor...
Run a compression test. Check the radiator while running, for bubbles etc. Check your heater hoses/connections (they're right above the sensor). And as mentioned, check your oil.
No sense tearing apart a motor for head gaskets until you have confirmed that to be the issue.

Wow, I'm an idiot.

Leaking at the new heater hoses I just put on, running down the O2 sensor wire, not touching anything else on the way down, boiling on exhaust, appeared to be bubbling up from sensor.

Coolant not on anything else.

Best part, I recall one of these hoses leaking 100 years ago when I replaced, but didn't get the O2 error code.

For those keeping score, that's idiot x2, or possibly idiot squared?

To recap, I called 440 Source and a person answered and was great, I searched the internet for any and all info and found nothing, I checked the coolant and oil and found nothing, I scoured the engine for another source for a coolant leak and found nothing, I pulled the plugs and found nothing.

At this point my brain took off in panic mode, Power Tour a week away, I was just about to do a compression test, and posted here.

Answer within 25 minutes.

Thank you fabo for assisting and talking me down from the mental ledge.

Hey, that kinda stuff happens- I think we've all run into issues where our brain automatically jumps into "worst case scenario" mode.
Now start packing for Power Tour!

You might see if you can find a smooth clamp that won't cut your hoses when you cinch 'em down, too. I like the OEM style clamps if you can find them.

Why did you change anything? Was it having a problem.

All the hi-volume pumps on every system,
are they necessary? Hell no!

I caint count the number of times stuff like this has happened to me. You always think the worst. Glad you found it and it was stupid simple.

Well, now we know why the people at 440 Source aren't answering the phone. They're busy helping Matthon.

Subsequent to this nonsense, minutes later, the O2 sensor code no longer cleared and it checked out, luckily I had a new one.

Then I called FiTech because I couldn't get the fans to enable. At that moment I recalled to 'toggle' you have to push the toggle button on the opposite side, not push the toggle button on top of the side you want to toggle.

Then the fans wouldn't kick on at all.

The brand new napa wire connector things that screw on to the maxi fuse and main power are complete garbage.

Some cluster duck of a nice heat shrink covering a two piece metal crap crimp area.

Swapped out for my 'old' ones, done.
Fans pull ridiculous amounts of air.

I recorded all of my stupidity and will eventually post on BubeTube, I'm not ashamed, the struggle is real.
