So I was thinking of shaving my 68 Darts hoor handles and trunk lock.....

I dont want it to look ricy.... I just want a clean look. The Car will be painted blk w/a red stripe.

What do u guys think?

Jason

Quite frankly it sounds appalling.......:sad1:

Leave the shaving for the hot-rods.

Here is a better question.

"Do you think I should make a Hemi Dart out of my 68 Dart?

Now your talking.....:hello1:

lol... I hear ya buddy.....

A Hemi Dart??? well I'm a little bias b/c I'm already doing that....

I would sugest a 3rd gen hemi though.... that 426 is a little on the pricy side.

just curious..what do you think I building its not a grocery getter? lol..

i say modify the heck out of it.in my opinion(here comes the burn part)stock is for suckers!if you want to trick it out, shave the door handles, trunk lock, and all the emblems for the clean look.use your imagination, its your car,who cares what everybody else thinks.

I shaved the door handles, marker lights, antenna and changed the fuel filler. To each his own.

right on fellas..... thanks... you have any pics of ur ride w/the shaved handles

Theres a guy at the local cruise ins with a 67 coronet. Thats about the only body mod he's done to the car other than lowering it and larger wheels and tires. Nothing ridiculous just an inch or two over stock. I gotta tell ya, I think shaving the handles looks great. Its just subtle enough to make you ask yourself what looks different. I say go for it, especially with black paint, make that body as slick as you can!

Mine is still under construction but you can see it in primer on my site (below). I'm hoping to get it in paint in about a week.

is it a daily driver? clean vs user friendly would be my concern if i were to do it to my car.

not hardly a daily driver.... I have my charger for that role... but I would like to drive it as much as possible....

I've got a 74 swinger, and for christmas last year I got a new welder just in time to do a "little" spot welding and fix a cuople of places where cancer was coming through to get ready for new paint. long story short,,,,,,,,shaved door handles ,locks trunk lock, antennae, and even welded the fenders to the cowl and the forward valance. While I was at it,I filled the tail light housing to the quarters and got rid of the rain ruts at the back glass too.The car came out smooth as glass!!!!!!! I love it and it draws a lot of attention

Cool... my body guy was already doing my rail runt on dutchman panel...I think thats whats it called? lol I do like the 68 side lights though so I'll prolly leave those...if I do my handles would it make since to do my rain ways too? or do I leave them?

fock the police....what the hell will they know about a 68 Dart?????? And if they know that much about it.... I'm sure they would rather pull me over just to look @ it rather then give me **** about it....

I shaved the door handles, trunk lock & gas filler hole on my Duster. I love the way it looks, but if your gonna do it make sure you get strong solenoids to pop open the doors. I have the auto lok solenoids on my car & when they work they work great. They are tied into the alarm system so that might be part of the problem to why they don't work all the time. The drivers door I just need to readjust the pull cable. the passenger door doesn't work some times but I think thats the alarms fault in not switching the circuit on the inside. I used a factory electric trunk lock that I found in the junk yard. I usually leave the window down just enough to get my arm in there to open the door.
