Hi, I have been working on a 71 duster twister for about the last 2 1/2 years. It is almost complete. My dad bought the car new in 71, and it has always been garage kept. at 126k miles we decided to restore it. The car changed hands to my grandparents when the family got too big for it, and the toro red paint was too bright for them,.. so they painted it green. We have since repainted the car back to toro red, and used a sticker kit from the paddock. I have removed every bolt from the car with the exception of the doors and trunk lid. The front end was tired, so I rebuilt it with new parts. The old 318 was a little tired, so I decided to rebuild it. Kenny shipley of Shipleys machine shop in springfield did the block, and heads. I have since ported the heads. I used a set of 340 rods, hyperutectic pistons, 30 over, and a larger than stock cam. We just ordered an edelbrock performer dual plane manifold, and a 600 electric choke carb. The car had an a904 tranny that also needed rebuilt, so we opted for a new 727 with a shift kit and a 2500 stall converter. rearend was left stock. I have the motor and trans bolted together, but I am waiting on a few other parts before I install it. The car was 235HP stock, and Im not sure what we will be making with this combonation. The headliner, dash cap, and carpet have been replaced, as well as the seats being redone. Heres some pics of her...

The cheezy hubcaps look like crap, but they will work until we can afford something nice. The hood is not flat black anymore, we opted for the ladder bar sticker kit. Well, thats me and my project.....

I decided to do a full resto after the outside of the car was painted... you can see the tired old 318... The car is still #'s matching except the tranny, but we still have the orig. a-904

Awesome work :thumblef:

Thinking about painting my 70 Duster tora red :color:

love the story, love the car!....got to do something w/ those rims though :silent: it would look great with a new set of rally rims. looks like you are doing a great job with it. what is the interior like? bench ,or buckets, color? welcome aboard!!!! :salut:

interior is bench, orange herringbone. Looks like plad, with black vinyl backing. Carpet dash & headliner are black. Im basically after a stock look. The car also has the factory shark tooth grill. Still trying to find a good deal on some cragar ss wheels. My father didn't care for the factory rallye wheels, and sold them about a month after buying the car new for $25.00 in a garage sale.. :( But we will find something to go on it when $$$ lets us. I could have had this car done a long time ago if not for the money thing.

Looking good awesome job, too bad about the rally's! something will come up that looks good. The money thing always seems to delay our projects huh? Sucks when that happens I know it too well :sad2: Welcome aboard I'm a newbie too. Keep at it!

welcome triggerjay, glad I don't see any hale damadge. :thumblef:

Looks like a keeper to me. Totally need to get rid of those rims though man. Carger SS or American Racing Torque Thrusts would look nice. Welcome to FABO and remember MOPAR OR NO CAR!
