the things we do for love

-
i would really like to thank all of you folks whom have commented and kept an eye on this project as it has progressed. THANKS!!!!! i hope, in some small way, that i have helped, or inspired someone here to get on with thier project. remember, this is not a restoration, but a repair. a major reair, but a repair, none the less. i love to talk about what i have done but, as i'm in the middle of this deal, im trying to get the pics up first. we can talk about it later, IF, anyone wants to know anything. thanks again, POSTCAR

you have convinced me to at least try to make me some patches. If its already broke, how much worse could I make it?

what a day. todays post. first bondo, all the seamsealer is on and the underneath is all in undercoating.

Looking good if I could ever get a welder I would get some work done to mine. Keep it up I look forward to your daily updates.

this will be the last picture update untill we move on to the front end sometime later this year. the seamsealer went on lastnight, so it was set up good this morning at 7:00 am. i had the body filler roughed in by 2:00 pm, and had the thing on the trailer by 5:00 pm. now i can get the doors ready and find a good set of fenders. the car delivers in VA. at 8:00 am tomorrow. so it is with great sadness...................... hey, no, wait. this thing was a mess. it is time to move along to the next one though. i need to work on the duster, and the dart needs the drip rails blasted and new seamsealer, and paint. hey maybe i'll put those pics up, this has been fun. i would like to thank my brother for letting me do this work. his trust in my abilities has given me great joy. and i would be remiss if i didn't thank my working partner,
MR. Dennis W. we do this stuff cause we love it. and without him i couldnt do what i do. thanks again, for all of the nice comments, it was awesome to hear from you all. when we get ready to do the rest of the body, i will resurect this thread. just because it will be something that you all will recognize. POSTCAR.

WOW looks great you did an awesome job, my car will be at your house next Saturday so you can do the same. LOL

i'm ready when you are. just let me know when you would like to have it done and we can try to work something out.

i full on understand man. but i meant it. this is the stuff that i live for.

truly amazing stuff-- thanks for taking the time for the pictures & details, Lawrence

That's some good work there Postcar!! The finish work on the quarter looks great. Your brother will have a nice car to drive after all this is done. Kudos.8)

31 days in the shop. not too bad. thats body and motor. pretty good huh?

Watching you do all those rust repairs makes me wonder if you are Canadian lol. You do good work.

pure western PA lake effect belt, but i've been to caanaadaa aye!!! i used to haul lumber out of dere so i understand your point. salt kills 'em don't it?

Man you are doing a sensational job!!! Now I know that my rust bucket rotted out cuda is fixable!!! I just can't do it lol...

You have done a heck of a job, your brother is going to owe you 'Big Time" just for welding wire and gas alone....

I can see your really good at it but wouldn't it be easier to put in a new trunk floor, trunk extentions, and left and right quarters?

the long and short of the answer is yes. without a doubt. i didn't price anything out before the job, and i would have to guess, Q/P 250.00, TFE 100.00? TF 100.00, materials (wire, seam sealer, undercoating) 150.00. pretty pricey. the total cost for this job was less than 500.00. semantics dude, you say tomato and such. and i had a ball doing this thing this way. it is how we used to have to do it. and i mean had no choice. and i will venture that when finished, be just as slick, as my silver car(original Q/P's). and was still done in a month! as i mentioned in the thread earlier, this is a repair. but if you look at some of the pics you will notice that if he ever wants to put thr stuff in it, it will come apart like the factory stuff would. do i think it is better to do it this way, no. just waaaaaaaay cheaper.

you aint that far away. roxboro is only an hour or so from me. come on down.

i'm gonna resurrect this thread for a few days. i will pick up the car tomorrow for round two! doors, fenders, and front end of the rocker panels. i will record and post all of the stuff i get to, one thing at a time! thanks for looking.

Was wondering when we'd get to see more. Will be watching again for sure.. that rear came out real nice!

Grant
