    Replacing my Intake Manifold Question

Your engine looks great inside, congrats. use newspaper in the valley to catch the foreign material. Then take the sides in to center and all the scrapings are in the paper, quick and easy. Vacuuming out the thermostat was not necessary, just drain the radiator was enough to not spill any...

    Replacing my Intake Manifold Question

No, it won't get any more out of the block than opening the radiator drain. I showed you photo proof of this. Water runs down hill. That lower hose isn't holding any coolant after you drain the radiator.

    Replacing my Intake Manifold Question

Come on guys THINK. The block does not need to be drained to remove the intake. Photo one shows the coolant level in the engine of you drain the radiator. It is to the bottom of those holes. Photo 2 shows an engine with the heads on and no intake. You can plainly see that there will be...

    Replacing my Intake Manifold Question

You will be fine, draining the radiator will get the coolant low enough so you won't have any spill when removing the intake. If you remove heads it will be a big mess without draining the block.

    741 x housing

741 is plenty strong, especially for a street driven vehicle. It is bigger than a stock 9" ford.

Get/make a wood wedge and slide in the gap down low to keep it shut for now. What is the year and model of your car? Surprisingly they changed...

    440 purchase

Your engine looks good from the outside, it wasn't sitting in the rain. CH4B has value and it's a good unit to use if you want to. It has 1964 426 street wedge chrome valve covers, too bad they dented the pass side one, but it's to the rear so not as noticeable. Those ribs on the side don't do...

Rope length for replacing valve springs.

Remove all plugs so it turns over easier. Put some rope in first then gently move piston up with a breaker bar on crank bolt. much easier. Don't use the starter!
