The top end is really where it feels like it lacks power. It takes off fairly well it just seems to have some issues getting up to speed. I understand that it can also be partly due to a sloppy torque converter or highway gears in the rear. I'm just tackling one area at a time for now.
Dart66, Are you running a stock rear suspension? No wheel tubs or leaf spring relocation? Also is this on a 70+ Dart or a pre-70? I may be wrong but I read somewhere that the older model darts had bigger wheel wells. I may be wrong on that though. If so I'd like to run that. I am just trying to...
Mostly street driven. I've been spending the last year fixing everything on the car. I have it running pretty well though but it feels like it should have more power than it has. The carb on there is either a 600-650 CFM old school Holley. I'm going to put the new carb on there and have it dyno...
Let me start off by saying I have looked through a few different articles on this topic and have read though them quite a bit. This is to more so get a second opinion on my specific set up and what you guys would recommend. I'm not just being lazy and not searching the forms. I love coming here...
I'm planning on buying a set of rims for my 1970 Dodge Dart 340 soon. I've looked around and have seen that people really like to run 15x7 rims with 4.5" of Backspacing. For my front wheels I plan to have a 15x7 with 4" of Backspacing with a 215x60R15 tire. I feel like this should fit fine. If...
I'm looking for the vertical driver side quarter glass chrome trim piece. When I got my Dart it didn't come with one. I haven't seen anywhere online that sells reproductions. Am I missing where they sell them or is it something you can only find NOS/used? If so does anyone have one? My car is a...
I don't remember what post I saw it on. Apparently you just use RTV in place of the "ears" of the rear main seal and it's a tighter fit. Figured I'd ask. Once again thanks for all the help guys. I'm never disappointed when I come here for advice/help.
Thanks for the help guys. I saw on one of the forms that the 360 magnum rear main seal also can work and it's a tighter fit? The person who posted it said he had a leak he just couldn't fix until he used the 360 seal. Anyone heard of this trick? I'm probably still going to go with the 340 seal...
Ok I was just making sure on all this. That offset idea is one I'll make note of when I do it. I'm positive it has to be coming from the rear main seal. I replaced the factory oil pressure sending unit with a line to an aftermarket mechanical gauge and recently replaced all the upper and front...
I have a sort of noobie question about the rear main seals on our cars. I have a 1970 Dart 340. I've had a small oil leak coming off of my flywheel cover now for a good while. A while ago I replaced the Oil pan and oil pan gaskets (Front and rear rubber pan gaskets as well) in hopes it would fix...
I ended up just drilling the hole to 5/16 and using a 1/4 pipe tap. I used a 5/16 flare to 1/4 NPT fitting. It's a paint in the *** getting the drill and a 5/16 drill bit in there. I had to remove the torsion bar, the small piece of brake line running from the proportioning valve to the metering...
Ive come to seek the help of anyone that may have had the misfortune of having this happen or anyone with good advice. When I was installing new tranny cooling lines, I was trying to wedge the shift linkage past the pressure line. I guess by pushing a little too hard on the line (near the...
I didn't see anything on CL in my area and I don't really feel like taking the time going to a junk yard looking for one only to save like $30 (excluding gas money)
