    Carb for 340

The top end is really where it feels like it lacks power. It takes off fairly well it just seems to have some issues getting up to speed. I understand that it can also be partly due to a sloppy torque converter or highway gears in the rear. I'm just tackling one area at a time for now.

    Quick Backspacing Question

Dart66, Are you running a stock rear suspension? No wheel tubs or leaf spring relocation? Also is this on a 70+ Dart or a pre-70? I may be wrong but I read somewhere that the older model darts had bigger wheel wells. I may be wrong on that though. If so I'd like to run that. I am just trying to...

    Quick Backspacing Question

I'm still running the SBP in the rear.

    Carb for 340

Mostly street driven. I've been spending the last year fixing everything on the car. I have it running pretty well though but it feels like it should have more power than it has. The carb on there is either a 600-650 CFM old school Holley. I'm going to put the new carb on there and have it dyno...

    Carb for 340

Let me start off by saying I have looked through a few different articles on this topic and have read though them quite a bit. This is to more so get a second opinion on my specific set up and what you guys would recommend. I'm not just being lazy and not searching the forms. I love coming here...

    Quick Backspacing Question

I'm planning on buying a set of rims for my 1970 Dodge Dart 340 soon. I've looked around and have seen that people really like to run 15x7 rims with 4.5" of Backspacing. For my front wheels I plan to have a 15x7 with 4" of Backspacing with a 215x60R15 tire. I feel like this should fit fine. If...

    [WANTED] D/S Quarter Glass Trim

I'm looking for the vertical driver side quarter glass chrome trim piece. When I got my Dart it didn't come with one. I haven't seen anywhere online that sells reproductions. Am I missing where they sell them or is it something you can only find NOS/used? If so does anyone have one? My car is a...

    rear Main Seal noobie question

I don't remember what post I saw it on. Apparently you just use RTV in place of the "ears" of the rear main seal and it's a tighter fit. Figured I'd ask. Once again thanks for all the help guys. I'm never disappointed when I come here for advice/help.

    rear Main Seal noobie question

Thanks for the help guys. I saw on one of the forms that the 360 magnum rear main seal also can work and it's a tighter fit? The person who posted it said he had a leak he just couldn't fix until he used the 360 seal. Anyone heard of this trick? I'm probably still going to go with the 340 seal...

    rear Main Seal noobie question

Ok I was just making sure on all this. That offset idea is one I'll make note of when I do it. I'm positive it has to be coming from the rear main seal. I replaced the factory oil pressure sending unit with a line to an aftermarket mechanical gauge and recently replaced all the upper and front...

    rear Main Seal noobie question

I have a sort of noobie question about the rear main seals on our cars. I have a 1970 Dart 340. I've had a small oil leak coming off of my flywheel cover now for a good while. A while ago I replaced the Oil pan and oil pan gaskets (Front and rear rubber pan gaskets as well) in hopes it would fix...

    Stripped 727 Transmission cooling line

I ended up just drilling the hole to 5/16 and using a 1/4 pipe tap. I used a 5/16 flare to 1/4 NPT fitting. It's a paint in the *** getting the drill and a 5/16 drill bit in there. I had to remove the torsion bar, the small piece of brake line running from the proportioning valve to the metering...

    Stripped 727 Transmission cooling line

Ive come to seek the help of anyone that may have had the misfortune of having this happen or anyone with good advice. When I was installing new tranny cooling lines, I was trying to wedge the shift linkage past the pressure line. I guess by pushing a little too hard on the line (near the...

    Jegs Brand timing cover

I didn't see anything on CL in my area and I don't really feel like taking the time going to a junk yard looking for one only to save like $30 (excluding gas money)

    Jegs Brand timing cover

That's a good price on that cover. I'll definitly go through them then. This just means my total spend on this fix will be further away from the "wife will kill me" range ;)

    Jegs Brand timing cover

Has anyone used/using the jegs brand timing cover for the SB V8? I was replacing my water pump when I saw my that a corner of my timing cover has corroded away and is no longer good. Jegs has their brand for $70.99. They also (as well as Summit) have a mopar brand one for $133.97. I've had no...

    Ratchet shifter fit and look

Any sugestions as to what other type aside from the ratchet? I plan to use the car for mostly street and cruse but there's a good chance the strip occasionally. I'm still early on in the project so I haven't decided on the exact route I'm going with the car. My main goal is to get her running...

    Ratchet shifter fit and look

I'm thinking in the near future of swapping a manual valve body into my Dart. I didn't have much luck on Google finding any pictures of how different shifters look in the Dart. For anyone that has one in their car, how do you like the shifter itsself, did you have any problems installing it (as...

    Holley fuel idle trim setting

The front half of the air cleaner was just barley pressing down on the air vent rod on top of the bowl. Just enough to make the rpms increase. Putting it on as a whole it's almost unnoticable. I had to just put the bottom piece on and watch everything very carefuly. I noticed when I slightly...

    Holley fuel idle trim setting

I found the air cleaner problem was a clearance issue. It just barley touches, but just enough to make the idle jump up. I'm about to set the timing. Any sugestions? I heard 12 BTDC is a pretty comfortable area

    Holley fuel idle trim setting

I'm also going to pick up a can of starting fluid to check for any vaccume leaks

    Holley fuel idle trim setting

It has a 727 torqueflite that is stock (to my knowledge) it is cammed but I don't know anything about the cam. The pervious owner had a friend build the engine and doesn't know any of the specifics. I timed it by ear for now. I'm going to pick up a timing light with an advance from a buddy later...

I haven't tried tightening them all the way. I'll try that tomorrow and post the results

    Holley fuel idle trim setting

Ok I just thought it was weird it being so far off from Holley starting point. I will definitly fine tune it in drive. Did you have any problems with the idle going up high in park? In drive it's right around 800-1000 RPMs but in park it jumps to like 1500. It's tricky getting the idle because...

    Holley fuel idle trim setting

So I just started tuning my fuel idle trim on my 4 barrel holley. I hooked up a vaccume gauge and started 2 1/2 turns out on each side. I adjusted inward leaning out the mix and the vaccume increased. I kept going until I was at a half turn on each side. With that I'm pulling about 13 inches of...

    1970 Ralley Dash Voltage regulator?

Ok thank you for the help. I got a voltage regulator from Napa today and wired it in after disabling the one in the fuel gauge. Works great

    1970 Ralley Dash Voltage regulator?

Will using the IVR on the fuel gauge work just fine? If so how much resistance should it have?

    1970 Ralley Dash Voltage regulator?

I looked around briefly on Google for some answers and only found some limited answers. I just got done redoing my 1970 ralley dash for my dart. I know the gauges only run off a 5v feed (otherwise they would fry). When I pulled my dash none of the lights worked or anything. Only gauge that...

    Picking an Exhaust and Mufflers

As for the H pipe vs the X pipe summit racing has an awesome video on YouTube about it. Since you are running a pretty good amount of power I'd go with an X-pipe. But you can watch it and see for yourself if you like. Hope it helps! https://youtu.be/Y0Va3sDhqwI
