1965 273 valve seals - different than later model?

Have the guides cut for viton seals. It's easy and the seals are far superior.

    Brainstormin' 440 vs 5.9 ...

I also built a 1977 440, 7.5 to 1, mild porting, Hughes Whiplash cam 229/242 on a 107 with I think .518 lift, CH4B, 750 holley, headers, and it made 416hp 465tq on the dyno. I don't know how fast it was, I never got it to a drag strip. That engine is now in my 66 coronet wagon with exhaust...

    A 440 I ran on the dyno

It's actually going in a 69 Charger . But I agree, would be good in almost anything. I built a low compression 440 a few years ago. That had a Hughes Whiplash cam.

    A 440 I ran on the dyno

He wanted a nice running driver and plenty of vacuum for power brakes. It's a pretty small cam.

    A 440 I ran on the dyno

No flow numbers. The heads were cut for bigger valves using a Serdi and I just went in and blended them. Performer RPM

    A 440 I ran on the dyno

I like to see engine combos dynoed so I thought some of you might be interested. Built this 440 last spring for a guy. .030 over 69 440. Speed pro 2355, 9.6 to 1 906 heads with 2.14 1.81 valves, bowl blended Crower 271HDP 222 234 @ .050 112 lsa Performer RPM intake, Holley 750 hp, 1 3/4 headers...

    Speed pro old cam specs?

So I finally have an empty 440 block and remembered to stick in there and check. It is in fact this cam. I did not check it at .006, but it is 242 @ .050, .476 lift on a 112. It is right on the money with 6 degrees of advance as the Elgin specs say. I'm putting together a 440 out of a bunch of...

I suppose we could've kept going. I didn't really think about it much, but now that you mention it, I'd liked to have seen where it starts to fall off. I'm used to big blocks that don't rev that far. This will be different for me.

It's called Soft Yellow. I do have a Baby blue 66 Coronet. Not sure how I've acquired so many 66 mopars. I have 4 of them.

Done at 5500? It still made 10 more hp and pulled easily up to 6300.

I bought a 66 charger this winter too. It was cheap and very clean. Just cooked interior that's completely disassembled. Has a pretty strong 440 in it. Not sure what I'm gonna do with it. Need to put in a windshield, fix brakes, etc etc to make it road worthy.
