    Veterans On the Board

Joined in 64 to avoid getting drafted into the Army where it was a sure thing to get handed a rifle and sent to Vietnam. Navy sent me there without a rifle. Served up river a while on LST 821, USS Harnett County supporting riverine patrol craft, PBR's. Long story short, I did 12 years...

A-518 no longer available at MP?

It has been a while since I started, then stopped, dumping all my stuff, and I am wanting to sell my never installed non-lockup A518. p3690426 is what the blue tag on the housing says but when I enter that into Google, it comes up empty. Did Mopar stop making it?

    cheap caliper adapters

If anyone here has front drums, and want to upgrade to discs, I am upgrading an F body to the 11 3/4 front rotors, and the caliper adapters that are coming off are available cheap. $20 the pair plus shipping, which is about $12 USPS prepaid priority mail box. These are sliders, not pin...

any body building a mopar for max mpg?

Aerodynamics is the problem with the dakota. It has none.... I bet the 3.9L would do well in an A body coupe, especially with an OD tranny and 3.2 axle, or a later model low gear set 904 tranny and 2.4 or 2.7 axle.

any body building a mopar for max mpg?

I did one back in the late 70s.... a 74 swinger, 318-2BBL, no AC, manual steering, power disc brakes, 2.76 rear axle, in stock form. Only car I ever ordered from the factory. I added 340 exhaust manifolds and dual exhausts, a lighter advance spring in the distributor, and got 23 mpg hiway...

    5 speed Dakota tranny?

The ax15 was only used in jeeps and dakotas. It is way too light for a full size truck. check out the links I provided in an earlier post.

I can do pics tomorrow, heading out shortly to visit relatives up in southeast Idaho. What part of Texas are you in? I grew up in NE Houston area. Left in 64, tho, and rarely go back for more than a very brief visit. I have learned to like a dry climate, and there is no dry in east Texas....

    Dyslexic mechanic

If you don't have room at the back, run it out the front.... I did that once when putting a 215 CI aluminum v8 from a 63 Buick Special into a Mazda rotary pickup truck. Some older dodge trucks also had a crossover pipe at the front of the engine.

    Cop Wheels / Rallye Centers???

Most small centers bolt on with 3 screws, so most mopar wheels will have the 3 small holes in the center. Cop car rims usually had NO small holes as they used a pop on center hub cab, but of the 3 sets that I have had, a few had the 3 holes as well. The wheels with 5 little holes inbetween the...
