My take on the oiling system crossover tube for the small block

Make sure the tubing is soft or there is a danger of breaking the lifter bore when you use the tool to peen the tube. Or a better suggestion, bush the bores and fix multiple issues at once.

    Strange drag brakes

Pics would be needed. And a part number or description of the spindle and/or housing ends so someone knows what they fit. Used race car parts do not hold their value well. Quality parts that aren't worn out or beat to death should be desirable though.

    Fuel hose AN6 or AN8

I've never run a return system. However, I like the idea, I've installed some, I think there are advantages and the next one I do on something I own will probably be a return deal. On a non-return system, fuel is deadheaded at the regulator(s). On a return system, it's constantly flowing in a...

    Fuel hose AN6 or AN8

No. I have the same set up on another guy's car - twin feeds, filters and 2 Holley Blue pumps feeding a -10 to the front. I keep telling him to take those pumps off and put something decent on, but he says they're fine. Big Block Chubby, 9.40s in a 3300# car.

Manual low on a auto shift valve body applies the rear band. 2nd or D does not. A billet drum is good advice regardless what else has been done.

To protect the roller clutch from being damaged. The only thing applied in low, besides the forward clutch, is the roller clutch and the low band if it's a LBA valve body. The band helps hold the reverse drum. The roller clutch is not good at surviving being shocked or going violently from...

Lighter weight, smaller diameter. Not sure how fast it would have to spin to disintegrate one of those. Never heard of it happening.

    Fuel hose AN6 or AN8

I would use -8 front to rear. It can drop to -6 after the regulator at the carb. -6 is smaller than 3/8" ID. The hose ends are even smaller than the hose depending on whose you buy. And I would use a better pump. Those little Holleys use 3/8NPT fittings - small IDs again. Or use two of them...

    Tranny explosion

True. 3 people just said they start the burnout in low. Never, ever do that with a Torqueflite. Go into the water in second. LBA valvebody and aftermarket drums stop them from blowing up. Not driving it right will still kill the roller clutch.

    New 408 build finally started

So I've had my own strange issues in the past that I've had to work through and have been following this one a bit. I've dealt with the pushrod pinch on a number of different heads. Looking at your new rockers and then looking at these, I think there is some to gain from different rockers. At...

    New 408 build finally started

Just as you don't want to use 36 grit grinding discs on everything, I keep a bunch of used burrs that are no longer very aggressive for use on soft materials or jobs that just need touched up. My newer, sharp burrs are used when needed. How you use them has a lot to do with how long they last.

    New 408 build finally started

Sure would be nice if someone would whisper in my ear whose car these heads went on so I could check out their performance. IF anybody ever gets to go racing again.

    1969 Dodge Dart 340 f(stock ) specs

Big difference between what was legal then vs. now. Then, stock meant stock. Trim, interior, etc. Engine had to be the right castings, cam specs, valve springs, carb, intake, and I don't think anyone was doing acid porting. Or spinning them 8000 RPM. Wasn't all engine. Plenty of work done to the...
