tick in a 6.1 Hemi engine

Sounds a little like a problem with the anti-drain back valve in the oil filter but you'd think it would do it on the initial start up as well.

    Advance Plate

Assuming the factory 13 is accurate, that will give you 26* of mechanical advance.

    no oil pressure

Did you pay with a credit card. Having a charge back would probably get their attention. Did you supply the engine core or did they supply it? If you supplied the engine reversing the charge on your card might lose you the core.

Cree LED bulb headlight conversion write-up *pics*

Found another review of these (or at least similar) lights at http://www.ft86club.com/forums/showthread.php?p=831061#post831061 His comment of "The halogens have some light above them while the LEDs do not. This actually has made it harder to see highway signage at any real distance at night...

    273 Engine with Frankenheads Setup

I have an engine that is supposed to be a 66 273, that has the early (65) casting number heads but the heads have the larger bolts and late bolt angle and no sign of modification. Only thing I can figure is that they machined some of the early heads with the late bolt angle at the beginning of...

273 Engine set up I'm thinking of going with, let me know what you think

Reading the other responses I thought the 10.3 pistons were for a 340 (much larger bore than the little 273).

273 Engine set up I'm thinking of going with, let me know what you think

mikeyt2014, I don't think it is possible to get 10.3:1 compression. If you follow toolmanmike's build thread (link is in his signature line) and look at post 169 on page 7 he ended up with 9.6:1 using the "high compression" Egge replacement pistons with a little shaving on the heads.

273-2 performance (or lack there of) question

I drove my 1948 Plymouth from Omaha to the Bonneville Salt Flats going about 80mph on I-80 the whole way. Pulled (most) of the hills just fine and had enough power. My plymouth at that time had a 273 with 2-barrel and a 904 trans with a 8-3/4 rear with 2.94 gears. I would guess my Plymouth...

    65 273 heads

I don't see why hardware store bolts (preferrably painted) wouldn't work.

    late model 318 904 and 63 /6 904 question

Cases will be different between /6 and small block but I'm guessing you already knew that.

    6 cyl trans on v8?

Would 93 still be a hydraulically shifted trans or is that new enough to be electronically shifted?

    OD trans behind a 273

Another factor to keep in mind is that you might need to have a custom torque converter made. From my reading here it is my understanding that the register in the crankshaft changed the same year the number of input splines changed on the automatic transmissions. When putting a late engine in...

What Cam and lifter set for stock 1965 273?

Keep in mind the '64 and '65 273 heads have a different bolt angle for the intake than the later engines. You'll either need an intake for 64-5 engines or you'll have to egg out the holes on the intake so the later intake fits.
