Hello all. I've got a frayed positive cable on my '64 Dart GT (273 with auto). It's a short cable that goes from the positive terminal a short distance to where it plugs into a harness. Never seen one of these before. I've checked a couple of my regular vendors with no luck, any idea who would...
Update -
The lower radiator hose was the issue, as it was collapsing as noted by some on this thread. Replaced it with a new one, as well as the thermostat that failed in the open position, and it now cools perfectly. After a half hour of stationary run time in the sun, I can't get it to get...
Factory gauge. Not puking coolant, but the temp gauge quickly creeps up to the line just before 'H', at which point I find a way to get moving or shut it down.
JDMopar There's a good old school radiator guy in town. I've used him for my Datsuns and an old Ford 8n tractor. So I can definitely use it. I'm sure we can work out something for your time and effort. Are the mounting holes on the radiator roughly 21.25" on center? I'll figure out how to DM and...
slantsixdan I'm new to Mopar (my experience is with Datsun Roadsters and Karmann Ghias), so I'm open to recommendations for good vendors, especially one selling accurate reproduction radiators. I'd like nothing more than to get rid of that ugly aluminum rad and have a more stock looking rad. It...
JDMopar you are correct! Not only does it get as hot as Satan's boiler room here, it's also pretty humid much of the Summer. 'Step outside and take a drink of fresh air' humid. Although the last few days have been abnormally cool for SC in August.
Thanks for the recommendation over in...
Thanks for this info. I looked at the two pulleys, and they appear to be roughly the same size, about 6-5/8". Any recommendation on size, and a vendor? I looked at Classic Industries and they only have the 6-5/8 pulley. They have the 160 high flow stat, so I'll get one of those.
Very nice engine bay you have there! Thanks for your input. The gauge operation tends to correctly follow conditions, using an IR thermometer. But validation with an aftermarket gauge may be a good idea. Can you recommend one? Also, where did you find your stock radiator, or is it original? Are...
Hello all. Apologies for the length of the post, but I wanted to be thorough. I'm having a cooling issue that I can't seem to chase down, was hoping for some insight from those farther along the Mopar journey than I am. Pictures are below.
We have a '64 Dart with a 273 and push-button...
