I run a one wire powermaster alternator from summit racing. It’s rated I believe for 130 amps. My stock alternator could not handle the extra power required for the Holley sniper I installed. It works great!

My 340 has a sleeve that was installed just after the factory warranty ran out at 13,000 miles back in 1971. NOT covered under warranty. The motor now has just under 80k with no issues.

There is a pipe thread dope called expando. “ The problem solver” It is in a powder form you mix up a little bit with water and apply to threads and assemble. No need to tighten. Let it set up 24 hours It’s impressive stuff.

Just measured my 71 340 duster front and rear wheel lips at the center of the hub. Original 80,000 mike car. Original springs. 26” in the front. 25 3/8” in the rear!

I did not inspect the feeds through the bulkhead. Nor did I hook up the original 12 volt wire to the alternator. So now any time I use the headlights or accessories my ammeter gauge reads in the discharge range. Slightly. Fortunately I have had no EMI interference.
