    LA360 compression

is it possible that someone put KB stroker pistons in your 360? if they have the deep eyebrow valve reliefs and are 100 down in the hole that would give you 200 valve clearance.???? that would make me suspicious. Back story is , many of these pistons were installed in crate engines with the...

    Easiest 727/904 rebuild thread...

i appreciate this project , i was an auto mechanic in my younger years , but we never did auto trans repair. it was always sent out. i am a retired medical equipment sales guy now ,but still work on my early Mopar projects. I bought the books from Tom Hand and Carl Monroe. these are great, but...

    Shorty Headers

too bad someone hasn't come up with a good tri-y set up for small blocks in some of the tight engine bays we work on. you would think that that would be easier to get performance and fit!

5 years of "Chrysler TorqueFlite A-904 & A-727 Transmissions: How to Rebuild"

Just got this book @ Christmas . not done reading it yet . The brilliance of this book is the quality of the photos and the comments adjacent to each photo. This allows you to read a paragraph and immediately see the pic reference. I learn well that way. I have many trans books but much harder...

Subframe connectors for a driver/cruiser, necessary to weld to floor?

i welded 1 x 2 x .100 req tube "Under" the stub frames @ front and back creating a box with the body. about 12-16 inches of overlap allows plenty of welding space on both sides. 67 Barracuda runs 12.6's 2 the track, leaves straight, no noticeable flex.

    422 dyno fail

i bought a blueprint engine in 2011 with 238/238 @50 thou cam , air gap, dyno'ed with 750 edelbrock and dyno sheet said 415 horsepower ,486 torque with stock magnum heads. i think intake manifold is the bottleneck

    Hastings Ring Gap?

all the engine builders i talk to won't build an engine with KB pistons unless they gap the top rings @ .030+ (4"bore). i, of course found out the hard way.

    park rod woes

i was reinstalling the extension housing on my 904 today (trying another governor) and somehow i thought that the park rod was in place when i put it together. got it all done and realized the trans was in neutral when i did the work. now it wont shift . i suspect the park rod is jamed in there...

    8 1/4 rebuild

3:55 gears with a 26" tire and a lock up torqueflight will net you 2800-3000rpm on the highway. 3:21 would be better on gas and still lively enough.

blue smoke on acceleration , dramatic increase

the 4 head bolt per cylinder is definitely the weak point in this design. the gasket was a generic "engine quest" brand . i didn't really assess the situation as critical as i was installing new cylinder heads and new head bolts. my normal go to would be to go with a brand name gasket . but as...

blue smoke on acceleration , dramatic increase

THE MYSTERY IS SOLVED! Head gasket ! blew the fire ring in towards the intake manifold exposing it to the crankcase , presumably sucking oil into the cylinder and out the exhaust. This has turned out to be an interesting thread to read as many conclusions were drawn from assumptions. To set the...

blue smoke on acceleration , dramatic increase

the history on this motor is that it was a bluprint crate. 2 pistons ended up with brroken ring lands. Bluprint sold me new pistons /rings and i cleaned it up with a hone and reassembled . this is when i found out about the ring gap fiasco that exists with KB pistons. as near as i could tell...

blue smoke on acceleration , dramatic increase

that makes sense! i have a leakdown tester as well. will try to borrow a bore scope ,but i find its pretty hard to see much with those. wondering about head gasket fire ring exposed to crank case causing a suck/blow condition??? seems odd to have happened seemingly so quick. its been awhile ...
