You REALLY should check out the "best 273 and 318 builds" thread, there are tons of good ideas there. A good cheap one is swapping heads. Even wrecking yard heads can offer HUGE gains. the easiest is just dropping some used stock 360 heads on it along with some used headers and a 4bbl...

IMO, if you're on a budget, and want to start going fast now, use what you've already got. It sounds like you've already got a solid bottom end. I'd take the magnum heads into a machinest and have them rebuilt, milled, ported, polished, and drilled to accept you're existing manifold. That way...

I always wanted to stick an 8-71 blower on top of one of these indestructo motors in stock form just to see what would happen. (of course I just happen to have a couple 8-71's in my barn and my local wrecker has a 413 in an old Dodge motor home, hmmmm...)

I would be A LOT more worried about the car than the block and rear end at that level. The block should be fine as long as the machining is good and everything is well balanced. The rear end could end up being a problem, but, without SERIOUS mods, I would be most worried about twisting the body...
